Maps are really useful, if you use it right, it can open up then entire world of minecraft at your fingertips. Still, one thing still evades me. If we can use legends on our maps, it would mark where we need to be if we ever decided to return.
Found a rich node of iron that you want to return to when you no longer have any pickaxes? Just whip out your map and mark it so you can return. Have more than one house with vast distances separating them? Just put a bed marking on them and you will never stray too far from them. These are just trivial things, but sometimes they can help the most.
Well the problem about coloured wool is, that it disturbes the landscape painting, so it would be better to be able to set points.
I think a legend isn't even necessary, it would have more flair to only be able to mark a spot with an "x" or something.
That is probably true. Maybe just having an Ink sac and a feather and you can make a pen and inkwell, which you can use to mark an X and can use the item like you would flint and steel. It would certainly give people a reason to collect the sacs instead of just item perfectionism.
Good idea, maybe when you hover/click an X you could have a text box come up so you could title it? Then when you hover your mouse above the X you could see the title.
