Hey Minecraft Forums this is my first post here. Now I suggest something to get my account started.
How about when you start a world, you get to choose a "Starting Difficulty" where you choose the world name and the seed?
Here's how it works:
There are 5 options and the option you want you check off the box next to it. You can only choose one.
The difficulties and the descriptions:
Piece of cake: When you spawn in the world, you are already in a house with a chest full of goodies, a workbench, and a bed
Easy: When you spawn, you already have 9 cooked pork and 9 bread in your inventory
Normal: You spawn with nothing just like how we have it now
Hard: You spawn at morning with nothing, except spiders and creepers are already outside waiting to kill you.
Oh my gosh: You spawn right after sunset with nothing
I guess it's not the greatest idea but it might be interesting to play with. Thoughts?

I'm with above. Piece of cake and easy don't make sense for the theme, and the others are just pointless, seeing as you would just keep dying until all the monsters go away.
I agree with the adventure mode ideas, It fits better into that, because the current difficulties would not translate to adventure very well.
Speaking of adventure, I really think Mojang should put Jeb back onto Minecraft for Adventure mode; it's a huge enough step that It wouldn't really be wise to have just Notch working on it. Nothing against Notch, it's just a BIG project.

This.
Peace of cake, and easy would be pointless
Normal is fine.
The rest you would just be running around being killed
