I really think this game could use a lag patch just the fact that people with great computers can run high end games off steam but for some reason a game with bad textured blocks unless you get texture packs lags. It seems to be the more the game gets updated the more lag even on the lowest details it is just terrible I myself can run TF2 online with steady frame rate highest details aside from ping lag but play minecraft with 13-34 frames at best come on... It's a great game but it really needs lag fix or post somewhere on your site what are the required specs to run this game because if you search for computer specs required to run it you can have those specs but still get lag like someone ripped out your graphics card and replaced it with a dead squirrel same thing with cpu and all that.

Even though the textures are low-res, you are rendering millions of blocks at the same time. This makes the game require a good computer.

Run a spyware remover and stop running a billion processes while playing the game. The game is built in Java so naturally it's going to run slower than games built in C or C++. If the textures are a problem, this isn't the game for you to begin with. Put your render distance to normal, put it on framelimit 90 and keep open task manager to see how your computer is handling the game.
Oh, and a protip for people replying, NEVER just say "get a new computer". That's one of the worst responses ever, it's just stupid. Because most people can't reasonably just get a new computer, because being able to play minecraft isn't a terribly high priority for people. Getting a new computer, a GOOD one, is a considerable investment, and most people don't have that kind of disposable income to drop a couple grand on a new computer. I expect poor performance, since I have 512 MB of Ram , but I'm getting a new laptop for college. But with people with reasonable computers, it's reasonable to expect the game to be able to run. And the performance of Minecraft is very inconsistent. Somebody with an average computer might have absolutely no problems running Minecraft, whereas someone with a really good computer might see framerate issues. It's completely illogical at times, and I can't really explain it, but getting a better computer is not the answer, EVER. If someone is having problems with Minecraft performance, that does NOT automatically mean that their computer is really low-end. I do think this needs to be worked on, Notch & co. need to figure out how to normalize performance, or add options so that everyone can have a reasonable game experience on a reasonable computer. But right now, it doesn't really correlate with how good a computer is. There have been people who have trouble with superpowerful desktops with 500' cooling towers and 7,000 HP exhaust turbines or other such ****, and My friend just has a normal Macbook and can run both minecraft and this ridiculous audio editor with 7,000 separate modules and have no problems with either. So shut up about getting a new computer. It's NOT EVER helpful.
TL;DR: Don't tell people to just get a computer upgrade. You sound like a massive Douche, and it's often not an indicator of a bad computer.
Idea: MAKE a better computer. It's oftentimes cheaper and can be made better than any pre-built ones if you know what you're doing.
Way More work than most people are prepared to do. Most people have no idea what they're doing. A neat suggestion, though, just not very applicable. it may not seem like it if you know how, but making a computer is HARD.

Just go online to see how to make a computer. With a couple hours of browsing it's pretty easy. Any problems that come when building it can be searched. The only reason not to build a computer is money and a PC rig that runs minecraft really good won't go past 600 dollars. Whish is well worth it cause it can run other things too.
If you can't run minecraft on at least fast graphics, normal render distance, and GUI scaling turned on then the computer is in need of replacing or an upgrade anyways.
