Firstly, sharpening edges of a perfect cube?
Im a game programmer so i shant explain how intensive this would be concidering it would do that to EVERY SINGLE CORNER IN THE WORLD, lets just say that for some people this game is slow enough, you cant make perfection any better why sharpen a perfect square?
Also read the rules, you cant bump unless you have new info on the topic or it has been inactive for 24 hours or more, not reported just letting you know :smile.gif:

Yeah this is contraversial... It would be nice to have this, as the aliasing actually slows down the game for me and makes it really hard to see things far awa in classic. But theres also that.
In SP beta people dont really have to deal with aliasing, because of fog, and the natural way a world is generated. Plus it could possibly slow a graphic card down more.
I dont really know exactly what im saying about the graphics card thing so correct me.

They arent perfect. If you cant see the jagged edges in Minecraft then you need to go the optometrist. Some people have computers that are more than powerful to run the game with fullscreen anti aliasing. On any modern GPU , 2x antilaising cost practically nothing in performance. It would be an option, and wouldnt be forced on any one.
True it would fix the textures when they are far away...
Oh and Artophwar My computer can run Crysis with all settings at max on 1 screen and Crysis 2 with all setting at max on the other screen, i know what a good computer is i just, cant see the jagged edges? i dont think you understand the method minecraft uses to draw, its not polygons it draws every single pixel seperate, if you see jagged edges, get closer to the object, or get a better resolution monitor, it depends on how many pixels your screen can draw not how smoothly it can draw a square.
And i am also prove me wrong if i am, but i think that anti aliasing on point drawn games actually doesnt do anything but blur :/

I think it needs it to, not even to make it look better either.
Ever been in a spawned underground room that's completely lined with glowstone. If you end up in one look up, move and feel your eyes cross uncomfortably.
That being said... Why is AA considered a graphical improvement outside of saveign peoples eyes? Things alaize IRL? Just look through 2 screen doors that are slightly off.
You'd think in this new age of bloom burning your retinas out they would add specialized alaizeing systems that make things alaize on PURPOSE!
I have a high resolution monitor and it is more the distance objects that look jagged. It is most noticeable in any cloud or hill. I really dont see any reason people would be against this. It can be worked on for months a bit at a time and is a feature many would like.
I said a little bit each month to appease you people that dont want it taking up their resources. I know it could be done faster. I for one would rather they put AA in ASAP and forget all other features as it matters most to me. But I am not selfish.
the reason things in the distance look rugged is because they are rugged
make a diagonal slope out of 1m x 1m blocks. walk away from it while you focus on one block. you will notice as you get far away that the landscape not being smooth is you actually seeing the individual blocks.
I think he might be referring to the "Gaps" that form between blocks when viewed from a distance, but I am probably wrong.

Its pointless IMO minecraft is drawing perfect cubes why sharpen what is perfect?

It would be getting rid of those weird patterns you see in, like, bedrock when really far away. It's hard to explain, but look at the wikipedia page.

Does it need MC? Nah.
It would be a cool addition but it isn't going to break my heart if it doesn't get it.

Its not THAT hard to implement its not like you do it for each object its just that the time could be better spent on other things
Minecraft is a classic looking game and we love it for that
It's not to be some photorealistic HD mess of browns and bullets and mediocre knife throwing knife physics.
You want anti-aliasing? Make it a mod. Let Notch focus on making the GAME better.
I think he might be referring to the "Gaps" that form between blocks when viewed from a distance, but I am probably wrong.
Still not really worth Notch's time.
Therefore, some other people must, as well.
But, that might not even be what anti-aliasing solves, so what do I know?
