You can place it in any inventory slot, and stack food on top of it. The food items are superimposed on top of the bucket icon, as well as a number to indicate how many you've got in there. You can place the filled bucket on your hotbar, but clicking on it won't allow you to eat it. You have to open your inventory, remove the food individually from the lunchpail, and then drop it into a hotbar slot to eat it.
sorry for bumping my own thread, but I think this is a good way to think of ideas for gold items. Think of gold things in general as stuff that has intricate parts or specialized compartments. And also anything that IRL is made of tin or aluminum should in theory also be possible to make out of gold. So a tin lunchpail might translate to minecraft as a golden bucket.
And I recently posted in another thread about golden shears, about how maybe golden shears have a compartment for dye, so that you could dye sheep at the same time as shearing them.

I think you are going to love my Survival Let's Play series on YouTube! It's called Spaceboot1's Garden. I make pretty things.
It's a good idea...making food more condense.. Would be a great tool for an adventurer :smile.gif:
I would suggest making it be able to carry wheat and/or porckchops only and a maximum of 10 items per bucket. If you right click with the bucket in your hand or if you right click with it in an inventory spot, it drops a item(randomly). You can take that item and it will act normal. To store the bucket you would take the item and right click on the bucket. The bucket would display a number in the inventory, just like any other item, to show how many items are currently in it.
That's just my suggestion of the details for it to work. I would support this being implemented in some way.
