I've had this idea in my head for a while, so I thought i'd share it. What it is, is that when a new person spawns in the server, they will spawn in a random area of it. This includes the ENTIRE 32bit value of the map. They would spawn ANYWHERE!
Other people joining would then spawn within 500 blocks of them. This way many people on a server would cause a large portion of the world to generate. This would allow for large plots of land to be utilized for "nations". As player roamed around to find the other players towns/nation/whatever, they could map it. These maps could then be cloned between the two players and vast portions of the world would be reveled. As more and more players came to the server and found other players they could then have the ability to map the entire trek from their spawn to another player.
Only drawback being that for this to work in a really sweet way would involve a large capacity server that could hold 50+ players. Smaller numbers would work, but IMO it would be much longer of a discovery game with more players.

mmm, i dunno, that should be an option in the server properties so people who want to have a free-build server don't have to walk forever in the wrong direction :tongue.gif:
IMO anyways
