It's simplicity itself. Maybe a player can be given a choice to use their Username or their 'Nickname' in the Profile Page (along with the skins). This way a person can have a different name without causing any problems because same IP still. :biggrin.gif:
...No.
There might as well not even be usernames. You would see nothing but Notches and Herobrines. No one would ever be able to tell each other apart.

11/11/11 is when I'll get a picture, 'kay?

The idea definitely needs some work, but perhaps it could work somehow. Tons of online games work fine with this feature, but it would need a very easy and obvious way of pointing out impersonators. Something like having a toggle function to switch between seeing a users Login ID and his or her nickname. That being said, I think this would be an amazing server modification but I honestly can't see it being implemented in to the Official Minecraft system, sorry.

impossible
notch would charge ppl to change it
its a good way of making random money
(just like xbox live)
there should be a way of changing your username provided it isn't in use, giving up your old username, if this already exists then I am not aware of it
but like said earlier: Notches and Herobrines
Isn't there that friendly message: "Sorry, that username cannot be used" or "That username has already be used."
"Lol ii r no play on interwebz, my name r 'lolbuttzzz'"
Did I get it right?
For some, possibly but for me it was more like "Hm, I suppose I will register with my secondary Login ID 'BlitzMK' as 'Blitz' is taken." then months later I purchased it on my already registered account while still not planning to use it. Some times I'd like to be something without extra numbers or letters.
I support. I would keep my same name as I use it for everything but I can see why this would be wanted. Notch can always restrict names from being usable like Notch and Herobrine and stuff like that. Besides, many online systems do this (hell even this forum, we have a Username, a Curse Login ID, and an optional Minecraft account name).

I bet it would be easy to have a username and a separate nickname-- many games have features like that, and when you get like 100000 notches and herobrines you immediately know who to kick from your server.

You are totally thinking about this signature right now. Read a book.

This is an idea, not a mod sorry :sad.gif:

Well, in the defense of people with bad names everywhere: I never planned on playing online.
