No. Point out in the new topic that idea is redundant and this thread is better and collects all ideas. Let them give their ideas in this topic and it is bumped again, with an idea. That's genious.
The new but now obsolete topic should immediately die out. Do not bump old threads to claim this because that is indeed redundant.
I'm a huge fan of these collection threads, actually. There should be moar.
-Notch said something about making Maps placeable on walls just like paintings (don't remember when or where but he said it).
-Map Markers could be something as simple as a string on a Sign block (example "mMark=example001") or a new block (for example, Sign + Compass = Map Marker Tag) that when placed will appear on any map that crosses that path.
-Topographical, Light Dynamic and Tecto Analysis seems extremely hard to code. Topographical maps are already (slightly) implemented, if you look closely you'll see some darker spots that represent hills. Light Dynamic maps seem rather useless, I don't really see any reason to have a map for light. As for the Tecto Analysis thing, (if it does what I think it does) Notch said he was interested in implementing Cave Maps someday.
-Compass Rose and Labeling Maps seems very useful, it should be implemented sometime
-All the other stuff seems random, so my opinion for those is: /meh
This thread should be pinned, it took me a good 20mins to find it.
Anyway, here's my idea for how to duplicate maps.
This would work the same way as making a cake- i.e. when you craft a duplicate map, the original map is left in the crafting grid.
Also, maps should be named "Map of ___", where "___" can be any word inputted by the player upon crafting the map, rather than being named map_0, map_1, map_2 etc.
People still seem to be making more suggestions on the same idea, so bump.
Also, I had an idea. Maybe instead of coping the map by surrounding it with paper, as it makes it so that you can copy it without the need of a compass, you could craft an empty map that doesn't have a compass in it, and craft both the empty map, the other map, and a compass.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I am the bone of my sword
Steel is my body, and fire is my blood
I have created over a thousand blades
Unknown to death, Nor known to life
Have withstood pain to create many weapons
Yet, those hands will never hold anything
So as I pray, Unlimited Blade Works
I think we ALL do.
No bumping! Honestly, your are Ghast Hunter and you don't know that?
Would you rather me bump a thread or TONS of overly suggested threads which are against the rules?
EDIT: Said "significant new information" is that other people are seeing the information, and can add to it.
Two wrongs don't make a right. And that Information is not new.
Isn't that redundant though?
Bumping a thread to refer to the mega thread it was posted in is genious? I missed something.
OH! I see.
Yeah, that's the purpose of this thread.

I wish I was in this :C
Yeah, I believe it was going to be implemented for multi-player, but I guess Notch decided to release 1.6 before he coded that in.

Those are already in the thread.
