Minecraft. It has plains, hills, oceans, waterfalls, lavapits, etc. But no true mountains. Sure, we have giant mountain-like superhills, but no true mountains, as I said before. My suggestion is that Proper mountains be added to minecraft (Maybe as a mountain biome). Not just big hills, but huge mountains. (Yeti, anyone?). They would have to raise the sky limit to do this, but I don't think thats too hard. The bottom parts of the mountains would be covered in spruce trees (If made into a biome this would be useful, not turning the mountain into a rock/snow desert), while the top is snowcovered and has menacing caves, home of Mountainous creatures such as : Mountain Goats (Goat fur?), Crag (I forget where this is suggested so I can't link to it), which is a creature that acts like a yeti, looks like a sloth, and is the size of a person, Etc.
One problem that we will encounter if mountains are added is that mountains are steep. In most cases it would pretty much only be a stone wall that you can not get on top of or through without using your pickaxe.
So in reality getting to the top of a mountain would be exactly like when you spiral staircase your way from level 0 up to the surface from a underground cave or tunnel.
I'm not sure this suggestion would do anything more than limiting where the player can explore.
Imagine spawning somewhere where you are boxed in by stone walls, you would need to dig for days with your bare hands before finding a tree.
how about canyons (possible already suggested, just off the top of my head)? they would be like a valley, with only stone, and maybe a river running down the center (if notch can get rivers to actually be able to spawn naturally). yes, canyons have a sharp, steep edge on them, but because it is not perfectly vertical, it wouldn't be too hard to mine out a little path along the side of it.
They would have to raise the sky limit to do this, but I don't think thats too hard.
You lost me with this sentence. (a) we really dont' need to raise the sky limit JUST for mountains; (:cool.gif: don't assume it would be easy, unless you're a programmer at Mojang.
Please tell me how I can improve this idea.

Want to play Minecraft SSP like Spaceboot1? Try my modpack, all mods made by me, Spaceboot1!
Perhaps a tool for climbing mountains? Grappling hook anyone?
