Anyways, onto the main topic at hand, Slime update! This suggestion brings many* new slime-ball-based items, as well as new spawn conditions to our oh-so-lovable green friends. SPA members should not read this thread, as it involves a lot of suggestions involving drops that can only be obtained from dead slimes. *'Many' implying that it is more than one and less than infinity. Actual numbers may vary.
---- Spawn conditions
Now, in order for most of these suggestions to work, we need to tinker with the spawn code a bit. So, by the powers invested in me by a nameless-authority-that-I-will-not-mention, I hereby decree that:
All slimes now spawn up to layer 48.
Giant slimes spawn at Light Levels 2 or lower.
Large slimes spawn at Light levels 4 or lower.
Medium and Small slimes spawn at Light level 8 or lower.
Tiny slimes spawn at Light level 9 or lower.
---- Sub-blocks(TM) and Entities
First off, a cliche, slime-ball arrows. Just merely stick a slime-ball atop a pre-crafted arrow, and you get one slime-ball arrow. Process can be reversed, by placing a slime-ball arrow back into the square, and you get a slime-ball and an arrow back. However, these are fundamentally different than standard slime arrows. No, instead of sticking, I went to the bouncy side of things. Yes, you are right, when this arrow is shot, it bounces up to 4(!!!) times, each time it bounces, it loses half a heart of damage. On the fifth impact the arrow stops bouncing, and you can recover a regular arrow.
Now, to pull a page out of Valve's book, you can merely throw three slimeballs in a line on the crafting grid, to get bounce pads. Land on these suckers and fall damage is completely negated, and you get rocketed back up to the same height you were. Perfect for intricate adventure map puzzles, or general fun. And just to add to the FUN, you CAN PUT IT ON WALLS!!! YEAH! It merely sends you flying at the exact opposite angle you hit it from. So if you hit it at 30 degrees, you get flung off at 120 degrees! How awesome is that?
Now, of course, we have to have a bit of sticky slime here, so merely throw a slime-ball in a bucket, toss it in your furnace, shake'n'bake, and you have a bucket of hot, sticky slime! Right click on the floor with the bucket, and pow! One sub-block of sticky slime, good for slowing down up to 10 mobs to half-speed! And even better, due to the nature of spider hair-follicles-or-something, spiders get PERMANENTLY slowed down!
------ Items!
Now, for what you have all been waiting for! Well, I dunno if you have been waiting for it, as you didn't know this existed until just now, but anyways! Slime-based items!
First thing is first, remember that bucket of hot, sticky slime (no, that is not what she said) you made earlier, right? Well too bad, I'm not using it at all anymore! Haha-no. Actually, after it being shoved in a furnace hot enough to smelt diamond ore blocks(I've tried it, it works), it is now extruding more heat than Death Valley in the summer! So, you just throw it in the fuel slot of your furnace, and bang! Exactly one stack worth of item smelting. Of course, the lab boys decided to 'balance' it, so it only cooks at half-speed. Oh yeah, it also takes ONE WHOLE COAL to make a bucket of hot-slime. I know I know, I hate balancing too.
Taking yet another page out of Valve's book(note to self, just take the whole book, not pages), we're adding sproing-boots! Just take iron or gold boots, surround it with slimeballs, and you have boots that completely ignore fall damage! However, they provide NO PROTECTION WHATSOEVER. Blame the lab boys, not me. Of course, what fun is just merely landing without any fall damage? No, if you take THAT PRODUCT, and SHOVE MORE SLIMEBALLS AROUND IT, you get rebound boots, which act like mobile bounce pads! However, thanks to the lab boys here, they now take one point of durability hit(yes-they have durability like tools, depending on the boots used to craft them) every bounce, and being hit by mob can send you bouncing off in random directions! Yay for bouncing!
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this suggestion, and don't forget to give me your credit card numbers give me completely useless, digital diamonds, internets, or Notch-heads!

The entire place is on fire, it should be baked by now!
I think I would like the idea better if you didn't rip off Valve's ideas from Portal 2, constantly talk about how you are ripping them off, and pretend like you are Cave Johnson while doing so. The idea is good but the way you said it is just irritating.

no fall damage? great for exploring. I like the way it balances out with no armor.
slime bucket... lasting for one stack of smelting doesn't sound great, as the game may still change to have varying size stacks.
the bounce pads sound awesome. you can really have some fun with those. would it be possible to place them right under you at the last second when falling?
Well, about the slime bucket, can you rephrase that, I didn't really catch the point. About the bounce pads, you most likely will be able to place them.

One, good artists copy, great artists steal.
Two, I didn't mean to come off as Cave Johnson, I was just being my usual ecstatic self. Sorry if I don't confrom to your views.

In a semi-good way
With the new Lighting pigmes, how about when the bouncepads get hit it turns into 5 tiny slimes.
You see that green button with the plus? You dont have to click it, and I am not gonna force you to do it.
