I don't mean something like an M16 assault rifle or a chaingun. I mean something like a musket or a flintlock. It won't have a bayonet though, and its recipe will be like this:
:Flint and Steel:
It'll be different from the bow in that it has a slower fire rate, (1-2 seconds) its projectiles fire perfectly straight, and it does more damage, perhaps twice or 3 times the damage. Its bullets will also destroy some blocks, such as sand and dirt, and its ammo will not be retrievable once shot. It'd be a good weapon to use for sniping, and it would inspire people to make more levels for minecraft, because it adds the possibility of more modern levels. If Notch adds demons like I suggested in another topic, perhaps you could even make Doom levels out of minecraft (and I know Notch likes doom. :wink.gif:)
To make ammo for this musket/flintlock/rifle (I think it should simply be called a "gun" in minecraft) you'll need to use this recipe (which will produce 4 shots)
So the gun would be somewhat easy to make, but since you'd need obsidian for the bullets, it'd be hard to get ammo for it. :tongue.gif:
But if thats too hard, perhaps it'd be iron instead that would be used. :laugh.gif:

... and who doesn't like a gun? My problem is how do I get that much gunpowder? Killing creepers tends to net me 1 gunpowder for every 3 I take down. Dunno why they're so stingy with their gunpowder but in my opinion if we get guns that require gunpowder then creepers should drop it every time they die without blowing up that is. To make it balanced Notch could simply make them immune to gunfire so you have to use arrows or swords to get your gunpowder.
Also I'd be inclined to use iron as obsidian is so painful to mine. Easy to find but takes so long to mine. If your intention was to make it just that bit harder to obtain your gun then I'd suggest using a block of obsidian in the gun making process instead.
To all who say to search for the pre-existing topic,
No
And the reason why I say so is because my idea for the Gun is different from whatever someone else posted. :tongue.gif:
Creepers shouldn't be immune to gunfire :sad.gif: Usually when I kill creepers they leave 1-3 gunpowders, but every second or third creeper I kill doesn't give any gunpowder or only gives 1

WHAT? 1-3 gunpowders! I've never ever gotten 3 gunpowders off one creeper. Now I feel really gipped. Hey Notch where's my extra gunpowders? The immunity to gunfire was to create balance for the gun. Since its the creeper that gives you the gunpowder you would have a self perpetuating easy way to increase your gunpowder, especially when you're getting 3 times more gunpowders from those creepers than me you lucky so and so.

Yes, you're idea isn't an m16 or Glock, but muskets and flintlocks HAVE been suggested before.

I'm sure they never suggested making it have perfect accuracy and destroy soil, sand and gravel though. :wink.gif:
Having this Gun would also make cool PVP matches possible. In red VS blue/ctf/deathmatch games, it'd be cool if everyone had guns. :tongue.gif: Since guns would have perfect accuracy, you'd need to utilize cover, yet the guns can blow away cover :unsure.gif: lol

If guns had perfect accuracy and destroyed blocks, it would be way too overpowered.
Also, this isn't COD. Minecraft does NOT need guns! We already have bows.
Why would the gun have perfect accuracy?
A) It's a musket. Muskets had terrible accuracy.
:cool.gif: Are your bullets somehow not effected by gravity? A bullet accelerates downwards at the same speed as everything on earth. (9.8m/s/s)
Why would it destroy sand/dirt/etc? Only thing a musket could feasibly destroy is glass.
Why do you thing you are the first to suggest a musket/flintlock?

Yes, it has, suggested, been, same before way.
wut?
it has been suggested in this exact way before.
