I'm sure we've all seen the suggestions. Nether ores, blah blah, better than diamond, mediater between iron and diamond, ect, not too interesting and not worth adding in my opinion.
Don't get my wrong, nether needs some new use to make it more worth visiting, but these new ores are too interchangeable. Might as well mine in the real world.

So, here is my idea.
Lavamite (Placeholder name,)
These would spawn on ground of lava lakes, rivers, and other such in the nether.
What? How the hell would you get to them in lava? so crazy!
Basicly, a simple tactic would be to feel your way under the river and dig out a room with one block inbetween you and firey doom. Once you encounter lava, you would fill the block letting the lava in with netherrack and go one below it, and so on until you've search down entire lakes. To pay off for the danger, the ores would be common.
Of course this would not be used for pickaxes and other generic tools, something a bit more needed.
The Shard Gun
The shard gun would not deal damage to mobs. It would push them back, but not do damage to them, like the fishing rod. The tool can be stacked. It would not take ammunition, but the uses would wear down the tools durability. But the use?
The gun is almost completely accurate. When it hits glass or lightstone, it will break it instantly, making lightstone harvesting a ton easier, and without making the ugly pillars to get them up high. Light stone would still be a hassle, making sure the dust doesn't drop into lava, but still easier and more worth getting. It would have 20 uses.
And I am simply playing with this idea, and I might remove it entirely depending on reaction
If you put a lavamite ignot on to the side of the bow, it will ignote the end of the bow, making all arrows fired for 20 seconds flammable. ignited arrows would ignite any mobs it hits, and light wood and such on fire. After the 20 seconds, the bow would revert to a normal bow.
I think the shard gun idea is a little too silly. However, if it were to be implemented, it would have to be available for other materials too. Maybe making more exotic materials push mobs back further.
Lavamite sounds like it could be a fitting material for pistons, though. :biggrin.gif:

having a slabcastle is slabtastic because people can see you build it from the sprout
I do have to admit, i didn't put all to much thought into the shard gun, but it is worth atleast considering, but I do think adding a new tool tier is pointless and something like the shard gun would be nice to implement.

or make it that if a arrow that goes throw lava or fire it cathes fire and whatever it hits ignites but the arrow could be destroyed.
