This is an awesome suggestion :smile.gif: Every time I think about it I picture a gray sky, an endless cobblestone street with different passages and buildings leading off to the side, towers and castles off in the distance...
About the funky gravity/physics: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/728727-181-mine-upside-down-03-the-other-side/ (This guy is already working on this for another dimension-related project that I love) About the funky times of day: For the sake of disorientation, there should be 3 different stages of time. The first would be "Day" and would be a large red sun moving across a white sky, with no clouds to speak of. The sun would rise/set in a randomized direction each time this stage of time occurred. The light level of "Day" would be 15. The second would be "Night', in which there would be a few unmoving moons, plenty of clouds, and a few stars in the background that would move in disorienting, randomized patterns, and then fade in and out of sight. The light level of "Night" would be 2. The last timestage would be "Grey", in which there would be a flat grey sky, with no clouds. The light level of this stage would be 7. However, during this stage, the lightlevel *everywhere* would be 7. Even in areas of what used to be complete darkness, or gloriously safe, bright light, there would be a pervading light level of 7, for the possibility of mob spawning *everywhere*. These stages would come in no particular order, for increased confusion. They would last a randomized ammount of time, and would then instantly switch to the next timestage, with no transition. What do you think?

I like the base 'day-night-grey' concept, but Mazeworld/Result/whatever it's being called now is more about passive danger than all-out enemy siege. These are my suggestions on how it could be changed:
1.) Night should be 3 light. This is simply aesthetic, Light level 2 is just too dark IMO.
2.) 'Grey' should replace day, as I think that it'll just be a bit more eerie to have no sun during day.
3.) As a result of the 'Grey' being the light time, the light should be increased to about 11. Not enough for, say, a spawned zombie to burn, but enough to see quite clearly.
4.) The enemy mobs don't really just spawn anywhere, like zombies. So that part is kinda null. Although, I would like if Shades spawned during night.
5.) Lastly, the cycle should have a minimum and maximum time. Like, I wouldn't like if 'day' lasted only a minute, then night came for 20 minutes. How about 5 minutes minimum and 10 minutes max?
All in all, aside from the 'constant white sky w/ 10 light level' idea, this is the best for time in the Mazeworld/Result/whatever it's being called now.

You invade this world claiming it as your own simply by your presence.
You slaughter animals for their hides and flesh.
You destroy the landscape and gouge out the earth to build your monuments to vanity.
And yet you call me monster.

I think that it would be far more erie if the sky was always just grey, no night, no day, just a forever grey sky.

Eh, a permanently gray sky would be somewhat boring. I like the idea of cycling conditions- the periods of Gray would be an eerie counterpart to the usual cycles of day and night.
Hm....here's a crazy idea, and probably a bad one, but what if Iron Golems were the way of getting to Mazeworld? If Mazeworld does have golems perhaps that could be where Iron Golems originally come from.
You'd right click on an iron golem with a specific item, and it'd banish you to Mazeworld. This idea just came to me, so I'm not sure what the item is, and whether it'd be consumed or be reusable.
You'd appear in a random spot in Mazeworld within a certain range of your earth coordinates, without generating a portal or anything. If there's an iron golem in that area though you'd always appear right next to it. If there's more than one iron golem you'd appear next to the one closest to you.
Since there are no villagers in Mazeworld no new iron golems would spawn there, but they would very infrequently appear with the chunk. But you could always build iron golems yourself in order to fix your teleport position.
Returning back to earth would work the same way. It'd drop you off in a random spot, unless there's an iron golem already there, in which case you'd appear next to it.
Mobile portal mobs would be kind of fun right? Definitely would give you a could reason to find villages, since iron golems are really expensive to build and free ones are a cheaper way of accessing Mazeworld. And I kind of like potentially arriving without way back (unless you bring iron to build a golem) so you have to explore and find a golem to return you home.
This wouldn't have to interfere with the iron golem's duties either, since it could act the same except when it banishes you.

Or, instead of just having the golem banish you, you could have to sacrifice it over your portal (the previously mentioned cobblestone spiral) in order to activate it. Maybe it would have to be holding a rose, in order to make it even harder!
I don't want to be mean but this thread has become increadibly unorganized and hard to understand, the OP needs work, and there are no real descisions made to make something finite.
If you don't want to edit your OP to make it undersatndable with the rest of the thread, then you are forcing people to read the whole of the thread to understand anything.
Now, if you were to fix the OP to make it relavent to everything else on the thread, this post will be null and void. I am really only posting this because I find it frustrating to miss about 10 pages and get completely lost over a period of hours. If you cannot fix this, then I'm sorry but this idea is to good to go to waste. I will make a new thread (linked to this one of course) with a more up to date OP and a good relation to the All Dem Demensions threads (LinkHere).
I hope to see this fixed, it's such a good idea...
I am willing to help with the new OP and any pics or drawings needed to develop the idea fully.
completely unrelated to my earlier thread, I love the idea of a grey sky all the time, maybe getting slightly darker and slightly brighter to show that the natural forces are weak in this world, some clouds would be nice just to allow people to orient themselves easier.completely unrelated to my earlier thread, I love the idea of a grey sky all the time, maybe getting slightly darker and slightly brighter to show that the natural forces are weak in this world, some clouds would be nice just to allow people to orient themselves easier.
although the idea of a dying grey sun would be cool too, like the normal world but with alot more clouds, to allow occasional glimpses of the only thing bettween you, and a minotaur/[whatever other mobs have been discussed] apocalypse.
Awesome ideas, even if it isn't implemented into the game it would be a really cool mod.

I like the idea of the iron golems being linked to, or from, the Mazeworld (It seems so fitting), I am however not sure that they should be the way to the Mazeworld.
Perhaps, if we are still going with the idea of a mossy cobblestone spire with a jukebox playing music, an iron golem would have to be nearby, looks at you, and then you are teleported to the Mazeworld.

One option I like is needing to create an portal out of mossy cobblestone, then the method of lighting the portal would be to play a specific note block melody. For the redstone ignorant, you'd also be able to play a specific music disc in a jukebox near the portal to light it.
If the note block thing is too hard to code, then the jukebox would be the only method. But I like there being a way of automatically lighting it with redstone circuitry.

Would there need to be a coherency to Mazeworld? some underlying sense
of order or purpose to keep it engaging?
-- Richard Cecil Joyce Montana Tech
That's a good question.
The way I imagined it, the main purpose of Mazeworld would be pure exploration itself. The reason to have an infinite city generate is so you can admire the mathematical beauty of the terrain generator, but in artificial structures instead of grass and trees.
However just exploration isn't enough. So there'd be monsters and treasure to make exploration a little challenging as well as rewarding. I'm not quite sure what this treasure would be. Maybe it could be regular resources like iron and diamonds, but it'd be nice if Mazeworld added something unique to the game, the same way the nether gives you potion brewing, netherrack, and several other neat things. What that unique thing or things would be I have no idea.
pro tip: pick a maze or a labryinth two in the same is contradictory
a labrynth has only one path but snakes on to the goal, mazes have multiple paths that can reach the goal

If it had a perpetually grey sky it'd still be nice to have cloud formations. Maybe a light grey sky with dark gray clouds?
