I would just like to add that I have an idea for a dimension called the Isles the could have features that mix well with the Mazeworld.
Such as there is this rare mineral there called Vit that could be crafted into a compass that works in the Mazeworld, little things that will help out but would not be required.

The Isles, an arctic Sky Dimension that should be used along with the End.
I guess an acceptable challenge in Minecraft would be the creation of a colony in the Mazeworld, and when i say colony i mean a place in it with trees, a lake, a house, plantations... things for survival that aren't there in the maze dimension.
Also, one question: the Mazeworld is made of constructions. There's a sky in it or it's COMPLETELY filled with bloks and constructions?
Maybe the portal could be sometimes found deep in Abandoned Mineshafts, like the fact that End Portals are found somewhere in Strongholds.
Except you could construct one yourself, just with effort.
This would give the map many, many, many portals to the Maze World.
Maybe your teleport location would be always at 0,y,0, even if the portal's location was 12000000,128,12000000.
The place where you appear would be a ruin made of bricks of some sort (Netherrack, Stone, ordinary), or a mix of them.
It would have a ton of Chests with lots of food, compasses (point to 0,y,0), torches, armor, etc.
When you die in Mazeworld, you should be warped to a box in its own dimension (I'll call it the Box Dimension), where it shows all dimensions you have visited.
You can enter any single one of them, just at a large platform at 0,y,0.
It may be similar to the surfaceworld.

Don't know... i like the idea of the correspondence of distance between the portals being not existant, i mean, in Nether, distance covered in it is 8x bigger in the Overworld, but in the Mazeworld, each portal is completely random in where it spawns.
It would have a ton of Chests with lots of food, compasses (point to 0,y,0), torches, armor, etc.
Expanding and giving something to the players to develop in their imaginations: each portal found in a abandoned mineshaft can be or sealed with stone and wood, or open, a rail going toward it.
When reaching the other side, the players find a branch of the abandoned mineshaft that doesn't go much deep. The implicit idea is that the miners found the portal, explored and met their own end there.

Maybe.
I like the idea of the portals always going to 0,y,0...
But having the shaft continue on a bit further and suddenly stopping would be nice.
Maybe have ores just spawn everywhere in the Mazeworld. Coal and Iron aplenty, Gold and Lapis Lazuli semi-common, Redstone in giant clumps but semi-rare, and diamond appearing in Mazedungeons and rarely everywhere else.
Yes, I said mazedungeons.
Dungeons within the Maze World made of other materials, with odd stuff in the Chests, signifying divine beings visiting the area, or it even being a home of them.
The items found in Mazedungeons would contain things like Eye of Ender, huge stacks of rare things like TNT or Nether Brick...
They'd be semi-rare and hard to conquer, but have amazing treasures.
Seems like you may have missed the point of Maze World, if I remember correctly what it is supposed to be. No ores, just buildings created by some long-gone race, with only spectres and a few monsters (the minotaurs) left in their wake. Maybe they stripped the planet bare and died, for all we know. However, it is a place for exploration, not getting ridiculously huge amounts of loot. That would be just a bit too easy to get, in my opinion.
As well, I believe that they were supposed to be buildings, skyscrapers, not dungeons. A huge civilization, not a giant death trap.
It would probably do well to at least skin through *I believe* pages 15 - 35. It'll help get the basic idea across, and allow you to help build on what the old ideas were.

Anyone that are posting ideas please read the WHOLE thing.
We are currently working on this as hard as we can. :tongue.gif:
Being the only texture artist in the 4-person team including a modeller, a idea's guy that's awesome and a coder that dissipated in this dimension(kinda), I think we need some help here!

The Mazeworld as a sky that is full of skyscrapers.

You are right, the point of it is to explore the land of a dead, mysterious race with only a handful of monsters and ghosts left over.
And as for portals I think that the idea for having a jukebox in the middle of a three block by three block square of mossy cobblestone would be best, you put any disc into the jukebox and you are teleported to the Mazeworld.

The Isles, an arctic Sky Dimension that should be used along with the End.
That was the original idea, when you crossed that portal it would vanish and you would have to go around collecting supplies to make a portal home.
The portal back would require material only found in the Mazeworld and would require multiple boss fights to get enough of. Then you use that material to get back.
So mossy cobblestone and a jukebox would make a portal to the Mazeworld and a portal back and forth requires a lot of materials. It was designed to make you stranded in this strange new world.

I like the idea, overall, but instead of this maybe how about basically these things (Ill refer to them as mazes) found underground, like strongholds or abandoned mineshafts?
Would be too easy to get into and out of, and wouldn't provide the possibilities a new dimension would (namely the huge skyscrapers, castles, and having an eerie sky).
awesome idea. it should be very other worldly, new blocks and mobs.

No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...

But that would limit it to a ridiculous degree. As the poster below me said that would take out the possibilities of skyscrapers, castles, etc. And if it wasn't in a different dimension you have to try and reach people would rage about it to no end.

That sounds great, maybe you could use an ender crystal to go there somehow.
That sounds good but I do not think it should be a post-End thing.
With the ideas of getting Ender Portal Blocks from boss battles here that would be redudant if you have to kill the Ender Dragon and beat the End to reach it.
I like the idea of the End being the end of the game with every new thing added just leading up to it.

this reminds me of the labyrinth from the greek mythology. I completely love this idea of adding a new world that has constantly created routes, dangerous areas, and various monsters to battle. The idea of putting treasure into the maze seems like a great idea too.

Mazeworld would be filled with buildings, some low, some reaching up to the build limit. But above the build limit there would still be sky.
I was imagining it as having a perpetually white sky streaked with gray clouds.
LOVING This idea.
Loving the feel, the ideas about it, the mobs, everything...Wish this got added, or was a mod....
Hexahdron, White Sky With gray Clouds Sounds good....Still thinking of the red sun?
