Having played minecraft for some time now I'm thinking it would be nice to have some mobs that are more powerful than zombies but less powerful than skeletons. I've chosen the following 3 options as it introduces a new way to get cocoa beans as well as some new items that could be incorporated in future updates that I will address in another topic.
FEMALE ZOMBIE: Throws up to 3 flints [damages same as arrow], then attacks like male zombie. Flints that don't hit you can be collected. Flints not thrown can be collected when zombie dies.
SNAKE: Active during day, sleeps at night. Still spawns at night though. Snake uses venom on first attack which does 4 heart damage, further attacks do regular damage as other mobs. Dead snake leaves skin and venom if unused.
TROLL: Trolls live in caves near surface. Creating a surface cave without light can encourage trolls to spawn. Trolls use a wooden club to attack you doing double the damage of zombies. Trolls will only venture out of a cave if provoked by you throwing something at them or attacking them directly. Trolls can only be killed with a gold sword. Dead trolls drop cocoa beans.
I'd be interested in hearing others ideas as to what they would like to see in the way of new mobs. Minecraft has been and continues to be a game that is evolving which is what makes it so addictive and fun to play.
Find a way to incorporate snake venom into crafting, and make it so that the snake's venom can be collected when killed. That would be sweet.
Hi TN55. Easy done.
You collect it when you manage to kill a snake before it bites you. Then you can make......
POISON ARROWS: By combining 8 existing arrows with 1 snake venom you make 8 poison arrows. Damage is tripled. Of course there would need to be a new system to determine which arrows are being used when both are in the inventory. To maintain the existing structure it could be determined by which item is closest to the bow or if this is not possible then perhaps arrows could be placed directly on a bow showing the player how many arrows they have stacked ready for use. Poison arrows couldn't be placed with regular arrows so they would need to be used seperately requiring placement of one type of arrow and swapping as required or simply using 2 bows for greater flexibilty.
As for snake skin, firstly I would introduce or change an existing tree to a cork tree. Now you have cork blocks that can be crafted into cork stoppers (bottle cap) You combine a snake skin with string, leather and a stopper and you have a......
FLASK: Can be filled with water to provide half heart of health. Can be refilled 50 times before disintergrating in similar fashion to tools. Cannot be stacked.
As an extra option you could craft a thermos for carrying cocoa. Similar in crafting with the addition of glass.
THERMOS: Filled with milk [bucket is retained] cocoa beans and sugar. Provides 10 hearts of health but only takes as much as is needed. Remaining cocoa is shown as number in thermos box in same way as stacked items. Thermos however cannot be stacked. Empty or partially emprty thermos can be re-filled 10 times before disintergrating giving up to a maximum 100 heart use. Note: (Both flask and Thermos should show cork out of bottle when empty and in when filled)
PS: An added bonus to having cork is you could also make a raft that could carry your supplies. Something like this........
RAFT: Nine cork blocks make a raft. A raft can carry up to 3 blocks [eg: chests] before becoming unstable and sinking.
POLE: Three vertical sticks make a pole.
SAIL: Combining a pole and 4 leathers make a sail.
Using a sail on a raft makes it go faster and makes it more stable increasing its carrying capacity to 6 blocks.
The amount of carrying capacity could be changed if 6 isn't considered enough.
