What if there was a pressure plate that only gave off a different redstone signal depending on how many items are on it?
Scale Pressure Plate
1 item - Signal travels 1 block
2 Items - Signal travels 2 blocks
4 items- Signal travels 3 blocks
8 items - Signal travels 4 blocks
16 items - Signal travels 5 blocks
32 items - Signal travels 6 blocks
64 items - Signal travels 7 blocks
128 items - Signal travels 8 blocks
256 items - Signal travels 9 blocks
512+ items - Signal travels 10 blocks (maximum)
Depending how far the signal travels the scale could either activate or not activate different redstone circuits.
The player and mobs would count as one item.
What do you think? Could be useful for measuring how much loot a mob trap has collected. And it could also be used to create pressure plates that don't do anything when mobs or players walk on them.
Would it be like a chest + a pressure plate, or would you DIRECTLY "Q" them on to the plate?
It wouldnt have storage space. You could throw items on the scale yourself of course, but it would probably be more useful for having mob traps alert you when they have a certain amount of loot, so you aren't summoned just to collect a single feather.
But I do like the idea of a redstone chest that emits a signal when something is inside of it. That could be useful with communal chests in multiplayer to alert people that it's empty.
