My idea is quite simple: Allow us to craft any dye in to a solid block, like we can with Lapis Lazuli. I realize and admit that it doesn't really make as much sense as a Lapis Lazuli block (or much sense at all, for that matter), but it would give us a good (but expensive) building material in nearly any colour we could want. This would also open up building opportunities that weren't really there in the past, such as using a block made from bone meal to simulate marble. As for the blocks' appearance, they would essentially just be re-coloured Lapis Lazuli blocks.
Would anyone else like to see this implemented?
EDIT: Alternatively, if you want it to be a little more realistic, the crafting recipe could be a smoothstone block surrounded in dyes, like so:
[] [] []
[] []
[] [] []
Where [] = Any given dye.
Thanks for the support. I edited in an alternative idea that might please people who don't like the fact that it makes no sense whatsoever for 9 ink sacs to equal a solid black block.
This is a cool idea. However, it's essentially dyed wool with separate textures, so I'm not sure it's worth it.
Wrong. It's non-flammable.
EDIT: I realise it doesn't actually specify that in the OP, but he does suggest these as analogous to the lapis lazuli block, so I think it can be assumed.
It's still just a slight difference from dyed wool. Not that there's a lot wrong with that, but... I dunno. If each block had a unique texture, it would be really cool (and allow for custom blocks in texture packs without having to use dyed wool).

It would also be good for the storage of dyes.
Dye blocks could just replace wool blocks if they're still too similar, but that would probably rid us of colored sheep (unless they were made much rarer to balance the amount of dye given.)

They would look like lapis lazuli blocks, but in the different colors.
Then I support. Lapis lazuli looks awesome.

Lapis is done this way, so it makes sense. Also, for the sake of mass storage, these could de-craft (like ore blocks).
