-Couches
-A larger selection of beds (c'mon that default bed looks WAY too small for any player)
-Televisions (they don't need to work, just look like a tv. 3x3 Iron surrounding glass or something)
-Other appliances (idk, a sink to gather water from maybe? this would also require piping, which could be interesting)
-Potted plants (like this:
....:Iron:
^For the planter, then you can place it on the ground and plant something in it
-Wider selection of plants (ferns, lillies, banana trees, etc etc.)
-Elevators (yes, actual elevators, so we can use them in building giant skyscrapers and they would be like 2-3x faster than stairs. It could be a hollow 3x3 iron square, then use a double-sided vertical powered minecart rail)
The reason I have all these above ideas is that I was in a multiplayer creative server and a few players had constructed a giant hotel with different rooms, and I thought it would be nice if we could decorate things like that more. Essentially a completely 3D version of "Animal Crossing", if anyone's played that...except with the mobs!!
Some way to buy/sell goods at a store that someone has constructed. This would require currency, which could be gold or silver...which brings me to my next idea:
You know the paper in the game? Have a way for people to trade in their gold and silver for "special paper", or paper money.
How could the paper money be regulated? First off, make it impossible to craft unless you are turning in gold or silver and putting it through some sort of item like a dispenser, except take in the gold and store it and dispense money. From there you can maybe pay other players to help you build things, which would give Minecraft an added feel of community instead of just giving them any item, because if you could give them Minecraft money, then they could retrieve the money for any item in the game, similar to an RPG.
-A torch you can carry with you that illuminates maybe a 7x7 space around you in order for you to see better, but you can't carry anything else at the same time, and it could burn out after a short while so it's not a cheap way to survive nighttime)
And lastly, my final idea: Classes. Have different types of characters that you can switch between...for example:
Miner: can mine 1.25x faster with any equippable pickaxe
Swimmer: Can hold oxygen 1.5x as long as a regular player
Woodsman: Can cut down trees 1.25x faster with any equippable axe
Builder: Can construct and craft up to 3x3 sectioned blocks instead of laying blocks 1x1
^Either something like that, or a leveling system...the longer you play minecraft and mine, swim, harvest wood, or build, the more your attributes improve.
And maybe natural disasters. Have volcanoes in the game that periodically erupt...if it's raining for more than a few days, have the water level rise a block or two...same with droughts except the opposite effect. And...earthquakes... :biggrin.gif:
Just to be sure did you look at the sticked thread "Why your rpg suggestion wont work in mincraft"
Just asking?
I already read it, but I disagree with why it "wouldn't work"---it's not a limitation of the game, but it could be done in a leveling-up fashion...or some other way.
If not, ignore the class/ranking system in my post--what do you think of the other ideas?
Truth be told I think these ideas should be expanded on more, not just a petty list. What do each of them do? Describe, describe. And even though classes and leveling are hated by the forums I haven't seen the swimmer one before. Still no support for it though.

http://myschoo.php5.sk/mca/ = AWESOME. The pen is mightier than the sword, or in this case, the text is mightier than the troll.
^Note that this is not possible with a 3x3 grid, which is why there could be 2x1 crafting tables placed side by side, similar to how large chests are built, and then you can have a 9x9 crafting table.
A larger bed could be crafted similar to a regular bed but it could be like a painting, in which the bed you are given is random.
I like the idea of the television giving you a prompt of what the weather would be like the next day. There could be different channels too, not sure what other ones could be.
The sink could be used in conjunction with piping and electricity, and these pipes could be laid down vertically or horizonally, allowing water to be piped electrically throughout a building, up and down various floors, instead of making a very long, spiraling flow of water which would take a while to construct. Also this water, if the piping is built out to the oceans, could endlessly draw water. Then you can take a bucket and just fill water from the sink. You could turn the sink on or off and the water would stop flowing...but basins or reservoirs could be built near buildings that fill up with water and retain the water using shutoff valves that close the reservoir after you turn off the sink, so that the reservoir doesn't overflow.
How about a fountain as an item, like an actual designed one that you see in front of really nice houses IRL or something? It could be crafted in different ways using a 9x9 workbench, Iron, diamond, or other different minerals in conjunction with piping.
I'm sure someone has thought of a 9x9 workbench before--which would allow for a massive amount of new items--there's only so much you can build with a 3x3 workbench, before you start repeating things.
