With the increase in speed and removal of Glitch Boosting, I thought of something that could be of use to some of the people who use Powered Rails (soon to be everyone). As most of you know, this is how Powered Rails work now:
Single Powered Rail - Builds Minecart Speed to 8 Blocks per second, From a stop launches a cart along 64 tracks
Unpowered Power Rail - Brings Minecart at any speed to complete stop
This is going to be changed slightly as Notch said he is making Powered Rails Faster
My proposal:
Allow us to set how what speed the Minecart is via right clicking. Right clicking will bring up a simple Menu that allows us to change the Speed from whatever the new maximum will be, down to 1 block per second. An Powered Rail without power still causes a full stop. This allows us to do the following things:
Choose Minecart Speeds for specific areas
Create slow moving tracks for "Scenic Views"
Create areas of slow tracks for precision Mob and Player Traps
Fun and useless thing:
Making fun Rube Goldberg machines that require precise timing, without using multiple delays.
