I thought of some adventure storylines with certain objectives. This is assuming other npc's shall be added.
Colonize:You arrive in a strange new world with orders from your king to colonize this new land. You arrive with 3 fellow colonizers. Each can be sent out to do specific task. The first one is a seasoned scout and can return with maps, but must rest before each expedition. The second one is a miner, he is sent out with a garunteed chance of cobblestone, a good chance of iron, moderate chance of coal, moderate chance of iron, small chance of gold, and rare chance for diamond. Must be tought to mine redstone, and must have the required pickaxe for the ores. Also pickaxe must be replaced. He can also be tought and given TNT for a greater chance of precious ores.
Finally the third is a fighter and can go out with you to fight mobs. Can be tought to use various weapons.
He starts out with a wooden sword and wooden axe. Each of these men need tools replaced constantly (scout will need new maps.)
Features
Tribal villages - Small wooden huts that develop over time, if unchecked eventually growing into a small civilization. You can conquer or negotiate for control of the villages granting you villagers. They require food (bread and pork or ham), a bed, and atleast a 2x2 free space. They can be taught to be several proffesions,
Farmer - grows wheat and sugarcane, you must provide plants or seeds.
Bakers - cook pork and wheat. You must supply goods.
Builders - they repair damaged structures and build from blueprints, i'm still working this one out.
Architects - they give pre-made blueprints for pre-set names. Ex. Wheat Farm, Pig Farm, Quarry They must be taught if you want bigger structures or more advanced materials.
Fighter - Same as your third companion
Baron - They control certain plots of land and will require, a big area of land, 10 architects, 30 builders, 50 farmers, 25 bakers, and 15 fighters. They will automatically terraform and improve their land to be self sufficient, but must be directed to specialize areas. e.g. quarry, mine, barracks, armory, ect.
Blacksmith - will craft tools, pickaxe, axe, sword, armor, ect. ect. For the armory or will automatically replace villagers tools.
Barracks - Barracks are required to build fighters, and specialize said fighters. These fighters need supplies.
Armory - Holds weapons made by blacksmith. Inventory includes - Armor sets, Sword, Axe, Shield, Halberd, Spear
Upgrade system - Upgrade structures for better output of said structure. This structure will use additional recourses (if needed) Need more villagers, have more output, use better tools or output better tools, grant more storage.
Examples: Pig Farm lv. 1 to lv. 2 - Output: 10 raw pork a hour, Villagers: 3, Space needed: 15 more blocks, recourses: 20 wood planks, 2 villagers, 3 tamed pigs, and 1 axe (slaughtering)
OBJECTIVES:
---------------
Acquire at least 100 rare goods.- We are abandoning more mines, and remaining mines are going deeper and costing us more upkeep. Send over a quantity of precious materials for a small upsurge in our economy while you establish a long term trade route. Gold and Diamond ignots are required.
Establish 3 level 5 precious metal mines and 5 trade routes back home - This is a long term solution to our mineral shortage. Establish several mines dedicated to the extraction of gold and diamond and establish new trade routes to keep our crippled economy going.
Discover a new material (redstone) - We believe a new and revolutionary new material might be just the thing to get our economy back up.
Develop new material - When you do find this new material, develop it. We want new torches, a safe way to set off TNT, and finally, a way to keep minecarts going.
Stockpile 250 gold - We need stockpiled gold in case a shortage. We shall send you a small shipment of goods necessary to keep self sufficient for a long time.
BONUS TO ABOVE: The king is going out on a conquest shortly and we require a new set of armor to protect him. Use some of your gold to craft an armor set worthy of the king. We shall send you a large sum of precious materials and 50 villagers, along with necessary tools for 10 workers, 15 farmers, 2 architects, 3 blacksmiths, 5 bakers, and 15 warriors.
Render unto me: I am very interested in the growth of your little colony. Our conquest was very successful, and it has recently come to my attention your colony is taking up a rather large portion of your precious metals and tools, so, hand over the colony and return as royalty, or die.
Render? REBEL!
You choose to render, at which point you will be sent home to undertake various conquest of barbarians.
If you rebel you will be faced with the kings forces until you die. Up to 5 weeks, when you can launch an invasion of your homeland.
Catapult
Trebuchet
Ballista
Siege Tower
Cannon
Siege Cannon
Rocket Launcher (Wooden frame on wheels, launches 10 TNT)
Troop launcher (Launches 5 or so Siege troopers into a castle
SIEGE WARFARE:
You lead troops (assigned in barracks) and siege machines (assigned in forge) against fortified barbarian forts or tribal civilizations. These can get quite fortified when you leave them untouched in the corners of your territory, but thats the fun.
So, if you like comment, suggestions are welcome, and if you want more detail on something, feel free to ask.
