Have you ever crafted bread by laying three wheat together, and wondered just what Steve?* is actually eating? I mean, he doesn't even bother to remove the stalks, or add any other ingredients, and yet perfect bread is made every time. I aim to fix this with the inclusion of a couple more steps, a couple more ingredients, and a couple more recovery items. *Minecraft Guy's real name is "Steve?", not "Steve". Remember the question mark.
1. New Ingredients 1a. Flour
Well, before you even think of baking, you'll need to turn that wheat into flour. Steve can do this quite easily by crafting 1 wheat into 1 flour, like sugar cane can be crafted into sugar. Its real purpose is to create a baking ingredient much more versatile than wheat. 1b. Eggs
Eggs aren't a new item, but they aren't used for breadmaking yet, either. Get used to adding eggs to your recipes. Don't want to find eggs just to make bread? Pitas use the old bread recipe (except with flour) and are slightly more effective due to the extra crafting required. 1c. Bread Slices
Bread can be crafted into five Bread Slices. Each slice heals 1 heart, and they are stackable to 10. They are also invaluable for making sandwiches and other items.
2. New Recovery Items 2a. Pitas
Pitas are a dry food, crafted just like bread is now, but with flour instead of wheat. They heal 3.5 hearts due to the extra work needed to craft them (wheat into flour). That's right, even lame old bread is slightly more powered now, and its crafting makes more sense. 2b. Bread Dough
Craft a diamond shape of flour around one egg. You get gloopy bread dough. This can be baked into Bread, or eaten raw (yech) for 1.5 hearts of healing. 2c. Bread
Bread is now harder to make, and heals 5 hearts! Just pop Bread Dough into the oven/furnace/smelter/thing, and out comes freshly-baked Bread.
3. Miscellaneous Things 3a. Wheat uses
There's been some feedback that if this was implemented, wheat would become useless. So I thought of some ways to fix this.
I: Wheat can be given to a passive mob by right-clicking it. This will heal 2 hearts for it. Why? I don't know, but if you belong to the Sheep Protection Clan, you can heal a sheep's wounds after punching it for wool. It encourages kindness. Maybe you could keep a small army of cows around to absorb skeleton arrows for you, then heal them up!
II: Planted wheat is creeper bait. Why? Because creepers, being made of plants, probably eat plants to live. So, they will run towards your farms and try to trample all your wheat and blow you up. After all, if farming is to become more productive, it has to be slightly more dangerous, too. Quick, make fences! Or you'll die!
III: Zombies have a gluten allergy (the less-publicized downside of being undead), and if you right-click them with (uncooked) bread dough they will take 4 damage. Finally, a way to do damage with eggs. Also, it's hilarious to kill a zombie with the power of nutrition.

Dont support wheat -> Flour.
I dont really have a great reason, i just dont like useless items. I dont see any reason why we cant use just wheat...
And the useless item will become the wheat, BTW, not flour.

Well, it sort of bugs me that wheat is just used as is. It still has the stalks attached and everything!
Although I could add a special use for wheat - healing passive mobs.

The key word there is "like".
WMG is WMG. Otherwise, maybe creepers just like wheat.
