Just a few minutes ago, for some reason it had occured to me that someone had probably made a Mario level on Minecraft. We have bricks someone could use for the brick blocks, someone could use gold or yellow wool blocks for the item blocks, it would actually be pretty interesting.
But then I thought, "Wouldn't it be cool if items could pop out of the blocks if you jumped and hit them?"
Of course, there's no mechanism that could do this, however this idea in combination with another could accomplish it. Aside from that, it could also be valuable in other mechanisms.
Ceiling Pressure Plates
Simply put, pressure plates that hang from the underside of blocks.
Right clicking them will switch them back and forth between two settings: Continual, and Intermittent
In Continual, the plates act similar to levels, hit them once to turn them on, again to turn them off.
Intermittent ones will essentially be the same as current pressure plates, once hit they'll give off a redstone current for a second or two, then stop.
Now, if you were wondering what I meant by, "this idea in combination with another could accomplish it"...
- Ceiling Pressure Plate + Allocator
- Ceiling Pressure Plates + Piston
CPP + Rose = Fire Flower
CPP + Feather
CPP + Phase Block = Hidden block
In addition to the Mario nostalgia this will provide, like I said it can be useful for all sorts of things.
Although I have to admit, there are few things I can think of that aren't reliant on things that aren't yet in the game, such as trap doors, grates, allocators, pistons, and phase blocks.
i have actually suggested this already, mine actually suggested that all buttons and switches be used on all sides of a block. it would save space where torches would be used
