Currently, all players really have to worry about in terms of conditions are lack of air when underwater and when set on fire. I've also heard from somewhere that Notch plans to make harder difficulties, such as "Realistic", where hunger would be implemented.
I was thinking that in addition to something like that (which would also be applied in other difficulties as well), there could be food-poisoning. It would mean long-term health decrease from eating raw food (pork/fish). Of course, this wouldn't happen every time, but rather every 10 or 15 times.
Along with food-poisoning, a new plant/flower could be introduced. This plant, in order to cure the food-poisoning, would have to be crushed by simply putting it in a crafting bench like you would for any other flower to obtain a dye. In this case you would obtain crushed herbs that when put with a bowl would create a sort of herbal tea. Bowls aren't hard to craft, and the herbs would be a little less than common, but not hard to find within proximity.
I've seen many suggestions for typical, deadly poison. Having swords with poison is out of the question though. However, I've come up with a rather good idea for adding lethal poison in the game.
The mob most plausible of carrying poison is obviously the spider. Earlier on I saw a suggestion for adding flasks. If flasks were added, a player could be able to approach a spider (preferably during daytime) and steal some of its venom. The consequence would be an infuriated spider. The addition of venom would also give the spider a chance of poisoning you. Stealing venom from a spider however would disable that ability.
Once a flask of venom is obtained, it could be used with one arrow to craft one poison-tipped arrow. Only one, to prevent overpowering usage. I'm aware that something more needs to be implemented in order to choose which type of arrows you're firing. I'm sure Notch could figure something out.
Also, the herbs I mentioned before would also rid a player of poison.
So there you have it. My own version of implementing poison into Minecraft, with an added sickness element.
I'm looking forward to your insight.
Your idea has already been suggested before. And, just as importantly, check the List of Already-Suggested Topics. It's not complete, but will save you time sorting through search results if you ctrl-f and find it right away. If something has already been suggested, and you aren't contributing some sort of massive radical change to the notion, don't make a new thread for it, just contribute to an already existing thread.
Thank you, and I hope you continue to contribute to minecraftforum.net.
Not the first response I wanted nor expected, and also, I searched for related topics previously mentioned, and they are not as detailed and specific as mine.
Could someone give me an opinion, rather than tell me it's been suggested before?
(Thank you for such a polite welcome, though)

your welcome, but all threads will very some, next time you find a thread thats like yours post on it and say how you would change it for the better.
I suppose I could do that, however do understand that it is harder to get noticed when replying to a thread. The common forumer will most likely read the first post, then a few following that one, and then stop.
This way I get MY idea showcased for people to see and evaluate. Rather then being overshadowed by the original post.
I could see it in other difficulties besides Realistic, but yeah, it is "semi-original". All I really did was add in some details. But this way you get a better idea of it, my own specific idea, rather.
Great ideas, but I would add a brown/different colored Spider that would have venom or not have venom. That way, it would be more (realistic?), in the fact that some Spiders would have venom, and some wouldn't. For you.
Yeah, different spiders could be alright I suppose. But the thing is we can't add to much to one section. To balance the game, things need to be added everywhere. The Nether is one thing that should be worked on, but it should never have more than the above world. Not even half as much.
Also, another realm would be pushing it. I've seen those suggestions quite a few times. But I think the Nether is enough, and that more needs to be added to what we currently have before making new places.
Two types of spiders would be alright, or some kind of behaviour like wolves have. However spiders would be the only ones with this. For now, as long as the rest isn't fully developed yet.

This is one of those "realism mode only" threads.
