I've been thinking of a fairly cool new block for a couple of days now, that I like calling Vacuum blocks. It's basic function would be to transfer water/lava from their source to somewhere else.
For example: []
The logs would be the vacuum blocks. Once activated with a redstone circuit, it would start taking water from the source and dumping it in the empty space. But once deactivated, the water would go back to the water.
Since it is powered with redstone, it could pull water/lava uphill.
I think it would serve a lot of purposes in Minecraft. c:
You know I never thought about that. It would be good for the people who don't want to build an infinite spring for the water, which I am definitely one of. The neat thing is that every other pump idea has always been based around either switching to finite water or moving source blocks.

I don't care for many of the other pump ideas, they lack the main qualities I need to perfect my defense mechanism.

Not quite. This would be a non-permanent transfer, so once you deactivated the vacuums the water would go back to the original water source.
It would work well with mob traps and defense mechanisms.

Allocator can't do this. The closest thing it can do is move a water bucket.
