Okay, so everyone knows that diamonds are made from carbon, and are basically little lumps of coal compressed under extreme pressure for a very long time. Well, we'll have to switch those : a heck of a lot of coal with a little bit of time.
So, here's my idea :
[this involves the ability to stack items inside the crafting table, as well as a new block, a Coal Block]
1. take 9 full stacks of coal [so 64 pieces each stack=576 pieces total] and place them on the crafting table: --> [one coal block]
2. take this one coal block, and put it in a furnace with 64 more pieces of coal as fuel: [coal block] [x64]
3. all this = 1
So, it'll take 10 full stacks of coal and about 6[?] minutes in the furnace to make one diamond. Anyone think it's worth it?
I say you should have to make an obsidian furnace for this to make it more balanced.
No, seriously. Think about it, obsidian is the strongest material in game (shutup about bedrock).
It would make it a little more balanced and you would get a sexy looking furnace in the deal.
hm,...good idea. and having an obsidian furnace could be like leveling up a furnace, just like you can level up tools and armor with better materials.
The upgraded furnace sounds awesome, but I don't know if 640 coal is worth one diamond to me. In terms of making a massive project that needs smelted stone/sand, the 640 coal is much more valuable to me than a single diamond. Either reduce the cost or increase the output to make it more worth the cost.
Would an obsidian furnace be able to smelt quicker? Or have multiple input/output/fuel slots to be able to smelt more stacks simultaneously? I know there are furnace upgrade suggestions, just spewing my thoughs. :smile.gif:
