What minecraft needs is real lighting. How about some flourescent cieling fixtures or path lamps. Torches are fine, but sometimes they just look plain ugly and don't fit in with the scenery as well. Another thing is, we should have powerplants. Flipping a lever or pushing a button and getting electricty to open a door or power something just doesn't make sense, and redstone torches can only power so many things. We need powerplants. This would mean adding materials to the gamer such as:
steel
concrete
-----------------
and for nuclear powerplants;
Uranium
plutonium (byproduct of uranium)
americium
boron.
I also think that plumbing should be added to carry water or other liquids from lace to another without having to use buckets. This would mean the addition of copper. Hope you like my suggestions!

and explosive shrubberies don't make sense either, but they still want their hugs.
and the light bulb thing has been suggested a lot (see my mercury banner)
