I was playing around with the powered rails and rails and redstone etc etc etc
I was thinking about if there was an alterating rail block that when it receives an input, it alternates from left to right or vice versa.
Would be awesome if this could be made possible

I'm almost 100% positive that this have been suggested before but i'll suggest it again anyways
You can do what you suggest with a couple of sensor tracks,a T-junction and the correct wiring. If you look at the redstone circuit page on the minecraft wiki, what you basically need to do is hook up a NOR Latch: output (Q or not Q) to the junction, one sensor to R, one to S.
EDIT: the sensor go one on each branch you want to alternate between. Whether you use Q or not Q will depend on how your track is laid out, but you want it so that the junction changes to the other direction when a sensor is hit.
Way too complicated. All the O is "suggesting" is for the track to turn when it receives input, such as a button or lever. And since it already does this, there's no need to beat this thread into the ground any further. Let it go ignored.
