*Note: I am not suggesting a texture pack
All ores, besides color, have the same basic texture, except lupis lazuli ore. Example:
I think that ores should have skins, basically, they should not all look alike color-arrangement wise.
They should vary in there appearances to make it look more realistic.
I hope I've gotten my point across well.
Edited in Idea: Certain ores have a chance of stoping more of their item. I.e. I there is a lot of exposed coal that block has a higher chance of dropping double.
I like the idea actually. I rather my coal and diamond look differently. Also this would make playing minecraft with out a texture pack a lot easier for the colorblind. (as if any of you care)
Yet, what you're suggesting is exactly what using different textures gives you. "Skin" is synonymous with "texture" in this case. You are asking for different ores to have different textures.
In other words, you're asking Notch to make a different texture pack for you.

I'm almost 100% positive that this have been suggested before but i'll suggest it again anyways

Not unless he means the ores choose from a random skin, so they are all not 100% identical

Sven is basically saying what I wanted to say with. The ores "choosing" from a skin.
Eh...Just get a texture pack to do it. I like my ores how they are.
Texture packs will not work, The suggestion is for any specific ore to have multiple skins that they can appear as so they do not always look identical.

The OP doesn't get the idea across very clearly. If that is indeed what is being suggested, it would be interesting, but not all that necessary. Two or three times as many ore skins just for a little variance that most people might never even notice while they're busy clearing everything out of the way doesn't seem worth it to me.

Yeah the original post should be made more clear. A lot of people will only read the first couple posts and respond not knowing it may have been made more clear later on.
It doesn't only have to be applied to ores. It could be applied to any material. When you have huge opens flat spaces such as with grass and water a single repetitive texture looks really odd, if their were some variations it would not look so foreign. Of course all the textures would have to flow together properly too.

This. Really, if they want variety, they shouldn't be down in the bland gray stone of the earth to begin with.

It has?
OT: I like the idea, especially for redstone and lapis, because it drops more than one.
