I'd like to see the occasional patch of naturally growing wheat. Don't make it too common though, or else there's no incentive to farm it. I'd imagine wheat fields about the same size and frequency of clay patches, only located inland.
Natural wheat would make for a more interesting variety of grassland biome.
I also think wheat should be possible to get very early in the game. This could also open things up for a hay mattress (which I think should replace the current bed):

Also, it's been mentioned before, but I'd really like a hay bale block, for making grass huts, thatched roofs, etc.

I've always thought it should occur naturally as well, it looks kind of nice. Not so sure about the bed, but I definitely want the block. I'd support this.
I agree, but I think natural wheat should be inferior in some way, to encourage the player to grow their own crops.
I think the fact that finding it naturally and as rare as clay (I ran along beaches for hours and found a tiny amount. It's kind of like sugarcane. If you find it naturally you say, "Neat." But it is much more convenient to just get it yourself. Except that you need a starting sugarcane to get started lol.

I sort of like the part about the natural wheat, but what really caught my eye was the bed.
Maybe there should be different tiered beds?
Wheat would be the first one, but it would sort of go like this.
[] [] []
You could only sleep half the night in that bed, because of how uncomfortable it is. This makes the first night a little less easy.
The second tiered bed should go like this []
This will allow you to sleep most of the night, but since it's on stone, it will still be hard to sleep in. Unlike the wheat bed, which stays on the ground, the stone bed would have legs on it.
Maybe for the third bed, you can craft it like this. =pillow
You would craft a pillow like this ]" title="-<->" /> ]" title="-<->" /> ]" title="-<->" />
And to make a bed you would have to do this
[] [] []
This, being much more comfortable than the rest, will allow you to sleep the whole duration of the night.

Naturally as in it's included in map generation, or it's possible for dirt/grass to spontaneously grow wheat?
If it is included in the generator, then mobs will simply destroy it before you even see it.
If it spontaneously grows wheat, then there has to be some logic behind it. Perhaps the block has to be dirt (not grass) in order for anything to start to grow - and it should still be fairly rare... like a 1/30 chance?

I'm not sure I'm qualified to answer, but I think the best way to do it would be just to include it in map generation. Yes, mobs will destroy some of it. Hopefully not all of it. I would think this could be tweaked with testing.
If it was spontaneously generated, I think it would be far rarer than 1/30. Remember to square everything in Minecraft. And then some. I mean, I guess it depends how rare you want it to be, but the patches I've got in mind are probably around 1/3000. And then throw in a little algorithm to increase the chance of it growing next to existing wheat, so you end up with pretty little patches.

I don't think there needs to be a second "inferior" type of wheat. It seems pointless.
But making the normal wheat grow naturally also wouldn't work. It requires tilled soil, which would likely get trampled by the first mob that wanders by.
So I have to vote no. It's easy to make a hoe, and anyone who can't find grass for seeds should check their eyes.

I'm almost 100% positive that this have been suggested before but i'll suggest it again anyways
It's a real pain waiting for the wheat to grow. No matter what, you cannot get wheat by the end of the first day.
I think the time it would take to find a randomly spawning patch of wheat would be more of a pain then waiting a little bit of time for a crop of any size to grow. Possibly stumbling on a few, or waiting a little while for as much as you choose to plant.

Plus half of my argument is aesthetic, for making better, more interesting grassland biomes.
I refer back to what I said about them being trampled. They simply would not survive wild mobs, hostile or passive.

I'll apologize for repeating myself about the clay thing, but I really think it should be the same as that. Sometimes you get lucky and start near a patch of clay. Most of the time, you don't start within sight of clay, but if you really want to find clay, it's possible to walk and find some within the first day. I want the same thing for wheat.

I'll admit this is a problem, and I don't know exactly how I would fix it. If I knew how to code, then I'd play around with it until I got a suitable value where this didn't happen.

I love those beds and pillows ideas. I have a feeling beds and pillows have been suggested a million times before, but I like it anyways.
I think the most basic bed or bedroll could actually damage you by 1 heart upon waking up. That would be an incentive to eventually get a better bed.
