Leaf blocks shouldn't be solid... but they should block (or reduce) LOS.
Want a cheap and easy shelter for the night? All you have to do right now is punch a hole into the greenery on a tree, and monsters can't get to you. I think that leaves shouldn't have collision at all- you (and monsters) should be able to just walk right through them. However, leaves should be harder to see through, so hiding inside a tree for the night would still work... as long as the mobs didn't get close enough to see you hiding in there.
I've never agreed with the argument "it makes it too easy to find shelter." Shelter is the easiest thing in minecraft. Just punch a hole in the ground and you can live there forever. The only challenge in minecraft is having shelter that looks good.
There should be solid leaves and non-solid leaves. The solid leaves are closer to actual wood and the non-solid leaves are on the outer parts of the tree.

Yes, having some denser leaf-blocks is a lot better. But your idea is pretty great. It'd be pretty great not having to chop the block away when its too close to a path. Then you have to do some more "trimming" on the other side, or get rid of the tree completely.

Agreed. Perhaps, the texture for these blocks should be a transparent green, so you can tell the difference. And they disappear when log is hit anyway..

I'm fine with that. Besides, what treehouse is actually made out of branchless clumps of leaves?

Solid leaves are a minecraftian thing. Sure you'll never walk on leaves in real life, but real life sucks. Try punching a sheep, I dare you. RSPCA will be all over your ass.

Thoughts?
Why? When I build a treehouse, both in real life and in the game, I use wood floors and walls.

Great feedback. Care to elaborate?

Let minecraft be minecraft, and reality reality.
basically this grey acumen guy needs to learn how to write games himself.
