Well, what if there are some blocks that will make the blocks around them twice as hard to destroy? Wouldn't that be nice to keep strength to your buildings when a creeper blows it up? I'm suggesting blocks that will do just that, and will be the most epic blocks to be used (for adding it into Minecraft inspires architects to be challenged of making a building architecturally sound but retaining awesome design.
But the blocks also add realism. As they get removed from the building, the blocks lose the strength they were oh so dependent on and will fall down, taking anyone unfortunate enough to be hit. This will be awesome!
A Pillar Block.
Made like this:

Support Block.
Pillar Block vertically stackable. Support block horizontal.
Nah, Notch himself said that he didn't like the idea of special blocks being required to make a floating structure. However, I would like more steps (sandstone, log, even gold) and sandstone, smoothstone, and cobblestone upside-down stairs(collision=normal block collision) for cooler-looking pillar tops. Certain gold sculptures might also be nice:

and maybe pedestal you can sit on:

lol, I made a reply longer and with more suggestions then the OP...AGAIN!

Fail.
Anyways it's for STRENGTHENING. It makes the blocks STRONGER and will make them FALL if the blocks got REMOVED. is it clear NOW?
Read before you reply nonsense noob.
Sorry just pissed at pathetic replies who didn't even read straight.
Yeah, I don't get the OP's idea either. Wouldn't having buildings need support blocks force you to make them incredibly clunky? That would ruin my treetop city. Actually the statues are a much better idea IMO, I'm building a creeper out of solid gold right now, but it would be cooler if it were an actual sculpted object.
But how do you know if a block has a support block or not? Is it so that when you place a support block, all the blocks around it become attached to that support block, then when you remove it, they fall down? Cause that could be one massive griefer source, like you go find someone who's built the Taj Mahal out of solid Brick, then slap a supporter on it, remove it and watch the whole thing fall down :biggrin.gif:

If the support block was placed first, then the scenario you said will happen.

And your ideas have no sense.
User warned for flame.
Sigh.
The Support blocks 'create' the structural integrity..
So if you place the blocks.. the blocks nearby will be stronger but will fall to gravity when the support blocks are removed.
You guys don't NEED to use it.
You don't need to use these..
Normal blocks WITHOUT the support blocks will act normally.
Support blocks WITH normal blocks will do what I said in the OP.
If the support block was placed first, then the scenario you said will happen.
