I for one want to not play In-Browers but also want some mods, my computer won't switch Video Cards.
So could you try to make the Video Card Drivers lower?
Some people say its the Graphic Cards, or either lower that please.
Please Notch or the people at Mojang, respond!
I wish he would make 3 actual full detail levels with their own textures and draw distances and such. Not for me but for you guys. That way these posts can end and other things can be focused on, and the game is playable for more people.
Also, while I agree with you OP, it might be time to save up for a new PC, perhaps a desktop (so you can swap parts lol)

you could install one of those "simple" or "clean" texture packs that bring the range of colors down a ton - simple textures require less processing power.
even if you play the game in-browser, you still have a .minecraft folder in your %appdata% so I assume you can still install mods.
I'm not really sure what you mean by "my computer won't switch Video Cards"
if your computer has more than one, it should be as simple as right clicking your desktop, clicking on personalize, and then clicking on display settings. There will be a drop-down menu for you to select from.
and if you are having driver issues, simply google the name of your video card and download the driver patch from your card's website.

Erm, sorry but my computer is not capable of changing video cards, and i can't do mods In-Browser, because if you look at a mod loader, it says "Dosn't work In-Browser"
I'll go post on mod loader to see if THEY can make it cappable, thanks for trying to help!
You can install mods without a mod loader, I just don't know if they work online.

Today I noticed that minecraft was using 1gb of ram, that's outrageous. I hope someone can move this game to another engine, java requires really high-end systems
