I've always enjoyed neon. It's so cool isn't it? Well what if we combined glowstone dust with dyes and then smelted the dye into glass? Would that be awesome? I certainly think so. Disco, vegas-like signs, mood lighting. All these are possible with glowglass!
Glowglass gives off a maximum 12 light (So that standard light overpowers this)
When two different glowglass lights overlap, the higher the wavelength light comes out on top. (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet)
How to manufacture glowglass:
1.
Combine dye with glowstone dust and water.
* = Glowstone dust

2.
Combine into a set of four.
Note: When broken, dye and glowstone dust cannot be retrieved.
Glowglass glows constantly. However, if connected with redstone, it can be turned on/off.
(I'm not sure if it works this way, but) This means a redstone repeater can be used to turn the glowglass on/off in rapid succession, giving an awesome effect.

Disco balls can be crafted using glowglass.
*Note: All glass must be the same colour
The disco can only be placed on ceilings. It does not create light, only 'reflects' it. Basically, if it is in the radius of level 10 light, it will give out level 10 light, and so on.
on the suggestions topic, genuinely interesting idea. for the sake of the terrain.png file, it could use the texture of glass, but have the cloth block of its light color sitting or spinning in the middle of it. it would look cool. alternatively, the cloth block could be there but glow light continuously. it would be fairly easy to code and not introduce a new texture for each colour

Either would work. I just prefer glass because I want my spaceship to have tinted windows. And racing stripes. Because that will make it go faster.
I think this would be a little too complicated, and incorporating a whole new craftable item would just be annoying. I support multicolored torches, but not this...
Seems pretty overcomplicated. You're adding: dyed glowstone dust (16 varieties, presumably), glass shards, 'incomplete glowglass' (again, 16 varieties), and finished glowglass (16 varieties). That's 49 new items just for coloured lights.
I'll tone it down then.
Only base dyes (no mixed colours)
Incomplete glowglass is the problem. There needs to be a middle ground. Got a suggestion for it?
Alright, let me think. Bear in mind I'm going for uber-simplicity here, so you may or may not like it.
Lose the bucket of water: I think it's enough to just have for your dyed glowstone.
Now, see, I think glowstone dust should be for coloured lights only - not coloured glass as well. So I think you can cut out the glass bit altogether. Just have 4 dyed glowstone make one coloured light:
I changed the standard 9 to 4, because we can assume the dye is making up the rest of the material. Or whatever, make it 9 and make them really costly. It'd be worth it. If we then assume white light is the standard light, that's 15 new glowstone lights (and 15 new dyed glowstone items). That said, I'm not even sure if BLACK should work :biggrin.gif: maybe that has a UV-light effect...
Save coloured glass for dyed sand.
You sir, are truly a mining god.
But, I think, just to more easily recognise it in the inventory bar, the white streaks on glass should be replaced with the colour of the light.
It's a pretty good idea, but needlessly complicated. Why not just craft this?:

= glowstone dust and = dye of any color
You would get colored glowing sand and you could just smelt that into a colored glowing glass block. Hook it up with some redstone wiring with delay/repeater blocks and you could have a rave party or creepy flickering mood lighting.
This seems to obvious to have not been suggested before, but I love this idea. It would make lightning a lot nicer/modern, if we just needed the glass.

Anyone got banner skills they'd care to showoff?
I just thought it would be a cool addition.
I'm not saying it's bad,i just have heard better glowglass-like ideas before,but yours is a little different,and I want a disco room!
Could you post the links to them please?
I couldn't find them when I searched.
I don't know where the posts are,it was like a couple days since I saw the glowglass forums.
I'd like to expand on this, can more people comment?

Fixed search!
I genuinely did not know that. My net has been down for a while. Thanks :biggrin.gif:
Care to comment on my idea?
thanks,I can finnaly search!
