hey guys, look i understand there probably have been quite a few posts of this already but the only one i could find was this viewtopic.php?f=1&t=262178
but i think this person needed better wording to get the point across,
basically in my opinion i think minecraft needs easier, more understandable survival multiplayer server hosting.
now my suggestion was that there be a create a server button under multiplayer, basically it just generates a world for your server then u choose some basic options for it:
-how many slots on the server
-password yes/ no
-additional commands/ plugins
then once this is completed it gives you your ip and people just use that to connect to your server, I'm just trying to say, that people (well me and my friends anyway) want to play multiplay with there friends on there own worlds they can create, rather then a 60 people slot server that lags a lot and are a bunch of randoms where u get no say over anything that goes on (not to mention griefing). Please don't jump to save notch when i say this, but seriously he has A LOT of money the least he could do would be to provide an easily accessible multiplayer experience.
if u have any other suggestions to add to this, please do.
You found a thread almost identical to your own. Congrats.
You posted this idea. Don't.
Do NOT post an idea if it has already been posted. Use google, find a server list, punch in the I.P. and BAM. Not hard really. If you want to create a server, google is there to help, as is yahoo answers, wikipedia and more.
Minecraft is in Beta, don't expect full-on SMP until it is released.

the post wasn't exactly the same, the guy didn't express the issues to the point i did, google is there, i know, i tried, but the truth is, you need an excellent computer to make it run well, and it shouldn't, it just shouldn't be that hard to run a minecraft server but because of notch's lack in getting involved with these problems it is hard to run.
Port forwarding is probably where you are stuck.
Deal with it, I like it because it keeps everyone and their dog from having a server.
i understand its easy, for you, but for people like me and many others who love minecraft, might no be as computer literate like yourself, therefore the game providing multiplayer should at least provide an easier way to make a smp server, rather then "look on google".

I assumed you linked to the other one, with pictures and stuff. If I could be bothered to look through my history I would provide a link, but I can't, so happy face.
well having this part of the game would make life a lot easier. I support. and if you ever played other games, you would have a easy Host system. and if you played any Valve games online, if you don't have it. it downloads. having this part of the game would make things easier for the average Minecrafter.

What if Bravo~Zulu instead SUPPORTED ALPHA'S SUGGESTION?! Do you not think that 26+ yeses on a single thread more than outweights the 5 nos that originally doomed the suggestion?
Let's do the math. Let's assume 300 people have the same idea.
EXAMPLE 1: 300 people create 300 threads. Each thread has 1 yes and 5 nos.
In total, you have 300 yeses and 1500 nos (16.67% yes, 83.33% no)
EXAMPLE 2: 1 person creates a thread, 299 others contribute. This thread has 300 yeses and 5 nos
In total, you have 300 yeses and 5 nos. (98.36% yes, 1.64% no)
Which, do you think, speaks more loudly? Can you tell which one is more popular?
Support the original suggestion, if your suggestion is similar but differs, I can guarantee you're the only one whom cares, post on the original suggestion anyway. Tell them your similar idea on the original thread. When it comes down to it, Notch; if he takes the idea, will take only the basic concept and scrap everything else in preference of HIS implementation.
