this idea really has no point, it took me about 5 minutes to make a "trash can" of my own
i wanted a way to burn items without any lava being seen, so i placed a dispenser facing a pool of lava, hooked it up to a redstone clock so that when i put items in the dispenser, they are dispensed in the lava, and i put a switch on it so it can turn it on and off. (i know that my contraption has no point either, but i was afraid that somehow my wolves would find a way to get in the lava). and it requires nothing be added to minecraft
Honestly, I've never thought of this. That's a very creative and innovative use of a dispenser. And it actually requires a little bit of brain power by using what's already in the game in a new way.

I'm almost 100% positive that this have been suggested before but i'll suggest it again anyways
@ llama6613- Well that was used to get the attention of the audience, that was just more of a joke than anything. So if you read the rest of it then you would know more dynamics of how it would work and how it would be used.
It isn't needed. Very few people actually support it. DO you understand? Do you really? It isn't needed. We ave all of the tools to do this already. There is no pint in adding a redundant item that takes up extra space in the items list and the terrain file. Cactus achieves the same purpose, as does lava, a hole in the ground, explosives, fire, the list goes on.
1) Already suggested, use the search option, join the searcher group, or even use the Google.
2) Dig 2 blocks down and put lava there, or even bury them! Problem solved.
We don't need a new block for something that's already functionally in the game.

Let's suffice to say I don't think using frickin flint and steel is going to light moss on fire...

A trash can is cool?
This is not high tech, nor are high tech things genrally wanted.
A trash can is extremly important when we already have many ways to dispose of items?
Over all, not Notch worthy at all.
