So after many days in the lunch room talking about my friends and I’s server we came to a good idea. What if Notch added a cool, high tech. item of extreme importance? Something as simple as a trash can would make life in Minecraft much less complicated. instead of using some sort of lava contraption for destroying unwanted blocks, lets use Gravel for instance, you could just toss them out. Another situation that a trash can could be helpful is when your emptying your inventory. You toss the item to the side to put something in a chest, then BOOM like magic you have it back in your inventory. You toss it again and you keep picking it up time after time. BUT wait! Notch just added trash cans! you turn the the right and click your items into the can. and they are GONE! out of sight! that gravel is out of sight and out of mind!

Extension- Well after reading all the comments i have realized that people are fairly good at criticizing an idea. Some of the comments are relevant to the topic at hand while others are unneeded and rude and blunt. But here are some further reasons to add trashcans:
1. Portable lava incinerator for disposing items.
2. Couldn't be too hard to program one.
3. Would be easier than setting up a lava furnace and more time worthy.
4. Instead of digging down 2 blocks to throw out your stuff, just place the can next to you and its gone.
5. As said by Zosoyoung- If there is a mod for it then obviously people want something like a trashcan.
6. Would be safer than using a mod.(read comments for details on that argument)
7. Why make anything really complicated if you could just make it simple.
8. Once you put it in it will be gone. No need toss out a trashcan, someone was wondering about that so this is clarification =)
*plz make sure your comments are relevant to the conversation, we don't need any personal attacks. thanks for your cooperation.
True but i would find it more useful to just totaly eliminate the object.
No, it would not. The most useful thing you can do other than use it to build something, is to store it away so that it's still around to be useful if ever you need it.

I'm almost 100% positive that this have been suggested before but i'll suggest it again anyways
I'm not seeing how this is really a big improvement on lava/cactus. I mean, an incinerator already fits in a small area, and destroys things quite rapidly.
I have an incinerator.... I found lava by going underground, in a cave system I found, picked it up with a bucket, and made one. :biggrin.gif: It took 5 minutes out of my time to make bucket, find lava, pick it up, go to base/house/ and build.
i also have an incinerator but you cant make one everytime you want ot get rid of something. And to that guy saying that you save it for later i have litteraly 6 full double chests full of cobble stone. our server has a large mine and pull out lots and lots of cobble stone. we need to get rid of it. trust me = )

Large mines tend to run into lava a lot. It's giving you a suggestion on how to make useful suggestions.
You can't just place down a trash can everytime you want to get rid of something!
Just through the junk on the ground, or if you want dink a hole 2 deep, drop it in, and cover the top.
Seriously, adding something for every need there is is stupid. Just invent something. There are tools in minecraft to invent things. This is a simple invetion.
Mods are bad idea. If you have ever read up on them they can create serious problems. If its out dated then it can crash your server. You cant just get rid of it either once you place the block down it is writen in script and wont get out by simply takeing off the mod.

Only some cause problems, and that is really, really rare. And about the written in script thing, just use a tool like this to remove the items.

Well the purpose of the trashcan would be that you could pick it up and move it, like a bed. That way you would not have to build an incinerator for convenience.

Why use mods anyway? They sometimes just completely ruin the game's experience and atmosphere. Then as you explained earlier, you need to go through some other thing total unrelated to the game to get rid of it. simplicity is key!
On the contrary! You have also done the same, you are suggesting to get a mod, then if i would like to take it off use anothor mod! That is not simple. This idea of a trash can my obfuscate you but don't worry it is very simple indeed! Just like a bed you can carry it around and use it as neccisary.

But you are just making it more complicated by making a complete new item when you could just make a pit with lava in it.

Bury it. Burn it.
