So, to anyone who reads this, this is not a 'OMGZNOTCHIWILLMAKEACREEPERBUTTRAPEYOUTODEATHUNTILYOUIMPLEMENTTHS!!!!' post, it's just a suggestion.
What if MC had earthquakes? They could be very rare in some areas, and pretty common in others! Please note that by common I mean once a MC month or two. And rare would be once a year. An earthquake could smash bookcases, open doors, disturb gardens, knock paintings off the walls, and cause a vibration on the surface of MC. Presumably, this would just knock you about five blocks in one direction.... Dunno. Also, if you were underground, the earthquake would be stronger...?
Any thoughts? Thank you!

I have a uterus and I play video games. Whoop-dee-do.
It could work if implemented rite, if not it would fail horribly. The thing is if we did have these, we would have to go the whole way and do other natural disasters as well.
But besides that I like it
Earthquakes would not be something that could happen anywhere provided the biome was right. Only select map chunks would even have the ability to have earthquakes occur inside of them.
Map chunks that have a chance for an Earthquake to occur would have the screen shake slightly anytime the player is inside of that map range, making it easier for the player to identify these zones to avoid them if desired.
The Earthquakes themselves would be relatively rare occurrences, perhaps only as high as once in a game month. (The Nether Earthquakes might be higher, up to once a week or even a little more)
When an Earthquake actually occurs, several effects would take place:
The Player would be bounced up and down slightly, making it difficult to jump, and also could be pushed in horizontal directions as well.
MANMADE(any block, except for cobblestone, that does not naturally occur on the map) blocks would have to make a Blast Resistance check vs breaking; higher blast resistance = lower chance of breaking. Pretty much everything below bookshelves is guaranteed to break.
Liquid source blocks would be able to move horizontally to an empty block, or a liquid FLOW block, or also move down lower to an empty or liquid flow block.
Natural blocks(any block other than cobblestone that can occur on the map naturally) that are unsupported make a Blast Resistance check vs FALLING, even if the block wouldn't normally be affected by gravity. Again, higher blast resistance = lower chance of falling.

No.
My reason:
Random destruction which can not be avoided in any way is generally bad.
It is not really that much destruction, but I don't support. Especially when it has been suggested many times over.

You can make them out of paper. i think you might need a little wood, but it's not exactly a big deal.
