I believe minecraft would benefit hugely from craftable sloped blocks, simply for an aesthetic purpose. The blocky look of minecraft as it is great and part of its charm, but having sloped blocks for aesthetic use in making structures would make me a very happy person.
How they would work...
[*:qgrngkcq]Sloped blocks would only be craftable, not naturally occuring, so as to not ruin the general look of the game.
[*:qgrngkcq]Breaking a sloped block would yield only a full block of the same material.
[*:qgrngkcq]For all practical purposes they would work like a full block, water would flow over them like it does a fence, and you wouldnt walk straight up the slopes, thats what stairs are for.
[*:qgrngkcq]Only be available in certain materials (dirt, stone, sandstone, brick for a few examples)
[*:qgrngkcq]Would only be able to have certain blocks stacked on top (no stairs, fences, signs, plantables etc)
Why sloped blocks would be a great addition to the game....
[*:qgrngkcq]Aestheticly pleasing for certain structures, there are things id like to make, but wont because it wont look any good without slopes
[*:qgrngkcq]Doesnt have to alter the general look of the game, as they would only be craftable, not naturally occuring
[*:qgrngkcq]Creates huge creative possibilites (pyramids, roofing, smoother diagonals etc)
Again, i know that the blocky look of minecraft is practically its trademark, and that having slopes that smooth that out isnt going to be right for many people, which is why i suggest it being only craftable, so that people can have the choice.
Already been suggested, and also not a very good idea.

"Minecraft? Realistic? Really? This is a game where you punch trees to get wood, you can make the wood into wooden planks in less than five seconds, and trees don't fall even if you remove a piece of the trunk from the middle. This is a game where animate corpses, giant spiders and exploding green terrorists emerge at night to hunt you down, farm animals run rampant across the countryside, and you can stop the flow of molten lava with a block of snow."
All suggestions i saw were for sloped blocks that also naturally occurred, and why not a good idea? just because you dont like it? because it breaks the game in some way i havent though of? what part of it isnt a good idea?

It breaks the blocky style of the game.

Emphasis on the choice, if you dont like it you dont have to use it, it doesnt break anything, simply give you an alternative if you wish to use it.
I like Eighth Blocks better personally. You get more detail and it stays blocky. It can also replace several block types like stairs and slabs by being able to work the same way.
