One thing I was thinking about would be the ability to dye water to make different types of colored water.
It's a straightforward but quite interesting proposal. Builders would have a much more versatile use of water, rather than just for fountains, elevators or simply lackluster purposes. Most people would argue that it would be unnecessary because of dying wool, but with dyeing water, you can make much more interesting forms of a project. Simply having a bulky, awkward looking structure is horrendous for some people, which is why having a structure made out of colored water would provide a much more fluid and sophisticated style of building. Perhaps waters could even mix with each other to create different types of water, like a stream of red and blue meeting and producing a purple stream, so you wouldn't have to waste time on making other dyed water.
Would this be something that the community is interested in maybe installing in a future patch?
Simply post if you would like this, or objectify and completely and utterly disagree with me... but the first option would be preferred. Thank you and have a nice day.
Hell as blocks can already have their textures changed by modifying their damage values, we should be able to dye any stone or wood block. You see that with stairs already, wooden stairs are broken faster with a pick. On topic though, how would dyeing 2 source blocks 2 different colors, then allowing them to flow into each other work?

One thing: How would you dye water? By crafting a bucket of water with dye? Or by right-clicking water with dye?
Also, how would you make water back to normal coloring? Lapis Lazuli?
But, I do like the idea.

You invade this world claiming it as your own simply by your presence.
You slaughter animals for their hides and flesh.
You destroy the landscape and gouge out the earth to build your monuments to vanity.
And yet you call me monster.
