this thread is simple and gives a harder aspect to the game. nutrients. right now in minecraft a farm of 15 blocks used to grow wheat would be able to sustain you for a while, and large farms would supply you enough for a small army. so heres (what i believe) to be the solution to the problem, implement nutrients. the basic building blocks of health, this will cover only general calcium,
proteins, carbs, and vitamins.
protein:
obtained from pork, wether its cooked or not may effect the outcome
proteins support muscle so you would do more damage and keep your regular mining time (debating on damage boost) slower mining time and less damage done if not eating enough.
carbs:
obtained from bread
carbohydrates are simple sugars that help fuel your body to perform daily task, hence why there the largest food group in the food prymiad.
they will keep your walking time normal, (need another suggestion) you will be slower if you are lacking this
general vitamins:
obtained from berries, they grow on bushes which look like leaves but with red and blues pixels.
maintain general health, keeps damage taken down to standard (prevent sickness if added) damage taken increase by a set amount each level below minimum
calcium
obtained from milk
strong bone structure is important, getting enough calcium will keep fall damage to standard and may even reduce it. not taking it will cause you to take more fall damage
levels of nutrients
5. is the golden one here reach this on all 4 vitamins and you will be set with calcium:5% less fall damage, carbs: 5% faster walking speed, vitamins: 5% less damage taken, protein: 10% more damage done, and 10% faster mining time
4. this is the standard and you will start off with this. all things are standard
3. suffers 5% penalty for whatever nutrient you are lacking in
2.suffer 15% penalty for what ever nutrient you are lacking in
1. suffer a whopping 35% penalty in what ever nutrient you are lacking in
0. penalty for that nutrient not being there is 90%, which means you will die much easier.
each vitamin will have there own bar to display what level they are at and as said when listing the nutrients they all do there own thing. each level will go down one in 2 days, if at 5 it will go down in one day, but stay at 4 for 3 days.
this can make survival more survival like, instead of just having huge wheat farms providing everything.

If that's a problem, I refer you to the threads on food spoilage and wheat disease, by Phantom_Potato and mohawkninja (I think) respectively.

It's too complicated for minecraft. I don't want to have to worry about things like brittle bone syndrome in minecraft, thats one feature of real life that should stay in real life.

Not even for realistic. Please.
There's a point where realism becomes absolutely retarded in a video game...
Nutrients is that point. This would be like The Sims, if every need but Hunger was removed and micromanagement was added.

Eating one type of food only could cause a problem, but this is too much.

thanks, that makes my life easier
Couldn't find the wheat thread link but here:
Click.
There's a thread linked there that could further repair the "problem".
