Notch ( ) should definitely add in Airplanes and Helicopters. These methods of air transportation would need special landing sites that each have their own little numbers (the X, Y, and Z values) in which Airplanes and Helicopters could provide transportation between. These can be made in the Crafting Table ( ) along with the vehicles themselves.
The Airplane will provide transportation between 2 Runway blocks without the user getting to control the Airplane. The Airplane will require 5 Iron Ingots ( ) to craft in a cross formation; the top middle, the bottom middle, the middle right, the middle left, and the central crafting slots in a crafting table. By jumping in to an Airplane by pressing the right mouse button, it will take off.
The Runway block is identified by a given name or the XYZ value of the block it is placed on or the first runway put down in the line of runways. This block is similar to the Minecart Rails, which allows it to be placed any number in a row and look like it is going straight. There will be no curved or diagonal Runways. When flying in an Airplane, you can change the destination runway by pressing the 'E' key and selecting the new destination from a list. There must be 5 runways in a straight North, South, East, West direction in order for an airplane to take off and land, which the Airplane will automatically do. These Runways can be made in the crafting table by placing a vertical line of Cobblestone ( ) in the crafting table.
The Helicopter is a player-controlled method of air transportation. In addition to the normal WASD directional keys, there will also be the left and right keys for turning and the up and down keys for changing altitude. The Helicopter can only land or take off on Helicopter Landing Pads or HLP for short. By pressing E in the helicopter, you can toggle an autopilot to the nearest HLP. Helicopters can be made in the Crafting Table ( ) by placing 5 Iron Ingots ( ) in a pattern that looks like a capital 'T'.
HLPs are made by placing 4 cobblestone in a square pattern and are identified using the same method as the Runway. You need to put four of these HLPs in order to make a functional place where Helicopters can land and take off. An Airplane can not land on a HLP, and a Helicopter can not land at a Runway.
These four block/ transportation methods will really help people explore without monster's intervention and will make transportation between areas much faster.
Are you out of your mind? Minecraft is a Medieval land of Medieval technology, if it wasn't, wouldn't skeletons be running around with handguns, zombies with chainsaws and spiders replaced by tanks?
A freakin' eyesore in a Medieval land. The world is created and run by the players in it.
Minecraft isn't medieval, you have primitive stuff because you woke up on a beach without anything.
ON TOPIC: Notch said he wasn't going to add planes, or helicopters because they would ****rape the game.
