I've seen a lot of silly ideas that try to implement crazy things into the game that just don't fit, could break the game, or just wouldn't be fun. Alot of them are pretty complicated, and would really take up Notch's time trying to implement.
I have a much more simple, and practical idea. How about furniture? Have you ever seen an epic castle, impossibly large, magnficent in all ways, then you go inside, and many of the rooms are... vacant? Some have gimmicky tv's and chairs made out of stairs, but the only real piece of furniture is found in the bedroom: the bed. Compare how the bed now looks, as opposed to the woolen ones people used to make. It's a lot better now, isn't it? All I ask for is something to fill out houses with! Surely it wouldn't be too hard to make a sitting feature, right?
Here's a basic list of what I would like:
-Tables
-Chairs
-Sofa (couch kinda thing for living room)
- TV's (No changing pictures needed, just something to take up space)
-Cabinet (Acts as a single chest, takes up much more space -- Again, trying to fill your rooms!)
If you guys have any suggestions, that would be great!
If anyone could supply models, that would also be fantastic!
You know, I honestly thought there would be a great clamor and everyone would rally around my simplistic, yet efficient and overall stupendous idea. Go figure, huh?
furniture would be good to have. Too h=often have I built large structures with nothing to place inside. However, I think each piece of furniture should have some useful function.
1)Chairs: you can sit in them and they slowly refill health. This wouldn't replace a need for food, as you would have to place it and sit in it to get the benefits and it is slow, should be 1/2 speed of peaceful difficulty regeneration. Place two chairs together to make a sofa/couch.
2)table: Not too sure what could be done with this. maybe a place to store food on a surface. like placing a bowl of soup down on it, and all you have to do is right click it later to consume the food.
3) Tub: a place to pour liquids for later use. These would be placed, and then filled, freeing up buckets. could also be used to mix liquids together, to craft whole new liquids.
4) Book shelf: (already in the game) but this would be a 2(tall) by 1(long) by 2(wide) version that would store the recipes that you have used since it's creation. Crafting books and right clicking on it should randomly generate a new recipe. (all duplicates are ignored so you only see one recipe each.)
5) trough: a "chest" of sorts that stores food for farm animals to eat. This would be a good way of "taming" wild farm mobs like cows and pigs. they will stay with in a certain range of the trough.
6) Mannican: A two tall object that you can open and place armor on. these could line the hallways of castles and also be a good place to show off what you have created.
7) Drawer: looks like a bed side table/drawer and would have 1/4 the inventory slots of a chest. Mainly for decoration, but can store items that a person deems important to keep nearby.
8)Tank: A glass tank that can be placed. When placing another tank beside or on top it changes so that it becomes on full tank. Useful for storing uncooked fish. (which would turn back into swimming fish) or squids, given we have a way to transport them. (and any other see life. that will be added later.)
9) rugs: like paintings except that they are placed on floors and serve no purpose then to act as decoration. Color can be dyed into them. Works the same as paintings. can hide openings and chest beneath them for security measures.
10) Weapon rack: a visual place to store swords and bows and arrows.
Are you out of your mind? Minecraft is a Medieval land of Medieval technology, if it wasn't, wouldn't skeletons be running around with handguns, zombies with chainsaws and spiders replaced by tanks?
TVs, like radios, require a signal as they are receivers, not transmitters and where would you get a transmitter? Build one? That sounds good. A freakin' eyesore in a Medieval land. The world is created and run by the players in it. Radio/TV stations shouldn't be needed, it's a game, why do you need TV in this!? It's a game!
Dude chill. 1.) the tv's would (have to) be similar to paintings (that gives me an idea! )
2.) since when has minecraft been Just a MEDIEVAL land, game. It can be what ever the player wants it to be.

Edit: I don't see many suggestions. Only 2 or three. But this still should be implemented.
Since when? Besides, I believe we need tables to go with them ,etc.
How the heck would you make a TV with raw materials in the wild?
