Okay, I can't really remember what made me think of this, but I think it would be a cool idea, so I'll just jump right to the point...
Scimitars:
They would deal more damage than a sword, but when crafted they will use up more materials, they would be crafted as shown...

Scythes:
They would damage a mob with the same level of damage as a sword, but would also rob the target of its special trait for 5 seconds, for skeletons it would be the ability to shoot, Spiders, the ability to jump/climb walls, and for Creepers the ability to hold their fuse (Sorry, since they would become nearly harmless if they were robbed completely of their ability to explode, I'm not going to make it rob their explosive trait). It would be far more expensive, costing double that of a sword in materials, but it will have its special ability making it better, but not so much that people would never use swords again. They will be built like so...

War Hammers:
They would deal the same damage as a sword, but would also stun the target for 5 seconds, making them unable to attack you at all until they return to their senses, it would be very costly to make, using a total of 3 sticks and 4 Wood/Iron/Diamond etc. they would be built like so...

I understand and very very much agree with Kira, (I've already read this), but what I'm doing here isn't making Minecraft more RPG like, please note that I'm only considering 3 new weapons, and they don't have all these different stats and stuff, they each have a special ability, the better the ability, the more costly it is to build.
I did, and it's kind of funny, here's one more idea that you hate of mine, coinsidence? or maybe it's just you have something against me and will disagree with anything I say?

Yeah it's either that, or he wants you to search. He never said he hates your idea. I searched for the term "weapon", as well as the name of each individual weapon, and got over 1000 results for each.
Also, most of these are RIDICULOUSLY overpowered. Scimitar, more damage for an extra diamond? Sure. It could only be .5-2 Hearts more or it will be able to one shot most things.
As for the Scythe, taking the special ability is overpowered. Creepers are somewhat balanced because they can still explode if they get close but backing up and spamming left click already works fine. Skeletons are screwed because they only have the bow attack.
And on the Hammer, that is so crazy overpowered it isn't even funny. A 5 second stun? I can kill any mob outside of the Nether with my fists in about 5 seconds. A weapon with any stun in this game would be OP because you can attack once every like .5 seconds.
I could see the possibility of a new weapon being added, but you need to actually look at the stats of the weapon and say, "Will this be too strong or too weak?"
