I often find myself thinking things like 'If only this game didn't auto-save!' I often realize a second later that this is completely unreasonable. I also notice that the fog can be a bit too noticeable at times. I suggest that Notch add a bit more options.
For example, let us decide between auto-saving every second, every minute, every five minutes, or every hour. Or something to that effect. Also, let us choose the fog level. Another game play option I'd like to see is an ore frequency setting. Whenever you start a new world or a server, you choose from four settings: abundant, common, normal, or scarce.
On abundant, diamonds would be uncommon, with a 0.1% chance per block to be diamond. Gold would be as rare as a spider jockey, with a 1% chance per block. The Lapis Lazuli would be unchanged. The iron would be extremely common, at a 5% chance per block. Coal would be even more common, with a 10% chance to spawn in any area completely surrounded in stone. Common would simply be double chance for ore, and normal would be normal. On scarce, there would be a single diamond vein in a 64x64x64 area. Gold would be half as common as it is now, iron also, and coal ore would be nonexistent, but you can get coal from any aggressive mob when killed.
If you don't like that, perhaps there could be a new type of compass. This, rather than pointing to a spawn point, would point to the nearest ore of that compass type. They would be made from from redstone dust surrounded by the ore's block. That is hard to understand so let me explain: A diamond compass would point to the nearest diamond ore (this is not exact, keep in mind. It would show you where the 8x8x8 cube the ore was in was.), and would be made like this: = redstone dust
I apologize. I have changed it. Does it look better? If not, I am sorry. I have not been on a forum for quite a while, and I am unused to the proper formatting required for anything larger than a small note, as I am still rather young.
