It would be nice to have some armors that not only added protection, but had some sort of utility. I've seen lots of suggestions for wooden and stone armor, but no reason why they would be any more useful than the armors already in game.
Another possibility would be these armors don't offer any protection at all, they simply serve their purpose but you take normal damage from mobs. They could still have durability and break if attacked, but this could be annoying as they would break quickly. Durability could also be shared between uses and damage absorption.
Shock Boots:
These boots would absorb the shock of a large fall, negating a % of the damage. The number of uses consumed would depend on the length of the fall.
[] [] []
My guess is the boots in the recipe would need to be either iron or diamond.
Jump Boots
These boots would double the player's maximum jumping height, but could only support a small amount of jumps (landings) (say, 3? 5?) before breaking. They would also negate fall damage (not as lengthy as Shock Boots), but this would consume jump(s).
[] [] []
Again I would guess iron or diamond boots.
Flippers
This one is a little obvious. No protection, but doubles the player's swim speed for a certain number of time/distance.
[] [] []
[] []
For this I would probably use leather boots. (Hence the redstone, to make it a bit more expensive)
Grip Boots
These boots would stop the player from sliding on ice.
[] [] []
[] []
To keep these expensive, as I don't see them running out, I would make them out of diamond or gold boots.
-----Helmets:-----
Diver's Helm:
When worn underwater, the player's oxygen would deplete at a fraction of the normal speed.
Uh, iron helmet.
Miner's Helm
I'm sure this one has been suggested before, but I didn't find anything. So here it is, for completions sake:
[] []
[] [] [] Iron helm. This would NOT give off as much light as a torch, but probably the same faint glow as, well, a RS torch. Just enough to see by. The iron bars are for the brackets, to hold the torch. This item should be relatively expensive simply because it would never run out.
-----Leggings-----
Utility Belt
This may or may not be broken, but when equipped, this would add to the player's inventory.
[] []
[] []
Utility Belts obviously have diamond buckles and would be attached to leather or iron pants.
Some of these armors could work as different parts, such as the jump boots working as jump pants. Keep this in mind too :smile.gif:
So there are my suggestions. I would love to discuss possibility, balance, and possible modding, or any other suggestions or opinions. With enough feedback I may look into modding them, but we'll see how it goes.
these are actually some good suggestions. For the Miners helm, how about instead of lasting forever, there is a time limit, but you can toggle it on/off. How about... 1 hour in real life time?

After thinking about it I'd have to agree about the belt... It was actually just a last minute idea thrown in as I was writing it. To be honest, I don't usually run out of space in my invo anyway. There IS plenty, just figured it'd be an idea to through out there. :smile.gif:

As long as the light isn't enough to prevent mob spawn. And no utility belt - you have enough portable space.
Monsters can't spawn within a certain distance of the player anyway. I'm thinking it would only be enough light to see through the dark; just a little more than punching a redstone ore block or something.
Apparently, though, there's an issue in minecraft and moving light sources, so it may not be feasible until the future anyway.

That's a load of crap from Notch. Mods have put moving light in the game.

Good to know! I've never encountered any, but mind you I don't go out of my way to look for mods. I'd rather wait until something is officially implemented, or for mod support.

Half the challenge of minecraft is inventory management.
Thanks for the comments guys!
