Seeing as Minecraft is a game based on survival and fantasy, wouldn't it be appropriate to include more in regards to the progression of human civilization?
We shouldn't name it such, but it'd be cool to see more elements of the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages be reflected into Minecraft.
Why is this? because each shows the gradual progression of human technology. And some techniques from each era remain even today.
In a bit I will address each Age and the items associated with it...
First I would like to mention that I think a few new blocks should be added to the game...
Marble, Limestone, Copper, Adobe, Wheat/Hay and Concrete
-Marble & Limestone would be rare and somewhat deep, and would be elements to be used in the construction of a building. They would give players additional material to construct/furnish their builds with.
-Copper would be much more common than Iron, but less than Coal. Copper would be closer to the surface and should be the first metal that the player encounters. Copper would have a strength between that of Stone & Iron.
-Adobe would be a crafted block which would involve either Soil & Water (yielding 16 blocks each) or would simply involve crafting soil bricks and then firing them in a furnace. Adobe would serve a little different than brick (which currently is tough to craft, with clay being rare) And would definitely be possible for people to craft & use in the early stages of the game.
-Wheat/Hay would be a way to store a lot of Picked Wheat. 4 Picked Wheat would make 1 block, and this would also give people the opportunity to create bales of wheat and homes with thatched roofs.
-Concrete would also be a crafted block, which would involve combining Gravel & Water. (thus giving Gravel a use) This would be another material that could be easily crafted by people somewhat early on.
There also ought to be some more furniture that could be added in order to furnish homes, this would include:
Chairs
Couches
Upholstered Chairs
Upholstered Couches
Tables
Glass Tables (glass in the middle)
End Tables
Armoire
Rugs
Iron Fence (plus Gates)
Dye-able Glass
and Clay Tiles, which would be short 1/4 - 1/2 blocks that would be dye-able.
There also ought to be a little more variety in animals, and I know Notch is slowly loading more, and I know there are addons out there with animals, but it'd be nice to have some basics in the normal game. Having hostile day-time NPCs would also be nice.
Horse (tamable for transportation)
Lion (hostile)
Bear (hostile)
Deer
Whale (or another big fish, so we don't upset people with hunting them)
Sharks (hostile)
Dragon (hostile) :wink.gif:
I propose the addition of various items from eras such as:
Keep in mind, this isn't a "locked progression" and the eras wouldn't be in-game, only the items.
Stone Age:
This is the age where all items are made out of stone, flint, mud, brick, wood, etc...
This would fit in with the existence of Wood and Stone weapons, Flint/Steel lighter, and Leather Armor that already exists in game.
It also fits in with the use of mud, stone and wood as building materials.
However, I would also propose the addition of these elements:
A Wooden Bucket, made as such: []
[] []
The Wooden Bucket would serve only to transport/carry milk and water. This would be especially useful in not just defense and farming, but in crafting early on.
A Handcart...
[]
The handcart would serve as way of transporting a few additional goods by hand.
Cart...
[]
[]
The cart would be towed by a horse and would serve as transportation and storage.
Spear...
[] [] [] [] [] []
[] [] [] [] [] [] [] [] [] [] [] []
The spear would be a thrown weapon, and each one crafted above would yield 2 spears. You would have wood, stone, bronze, iron and diamond spears. This gives the player early access to a distance weapon, but it would be less economic than the bow and arrow.
Knife...
The knife would be a melee weapon, similar to the sword. (mainly for fun, knife fights!)
Shield...
[] []
[] []
(orange being leather)
The shield would be a held weapon in the left hand, and could only be used with the sword, knife or spear. It won't be manually used, but would add additional defense.
Moving on to the Bronze Age...
This would correspond with the addition of Copper into the game, and the player could craft weapons/armor out of Bronze as well as Wood, Leather, Iron & Diamond...
The Iron Age is already pretty well covered in game...
In addition, there also ought to be a larger boat. It'd be nice to see a boat that can be boarded by multiple people. The person that right-clicks would drive, but the others could just "jump" on. This boat would probably be crafted using 5 smaller crafted boats (plus 2 sticks & 1 wool)
A Grappling Hook, which would be made with 3 string & 1 Iron and could be used in the field to scale cliffs and mountains.
It would also eventually be nice to see the addition of "Siege" Weapons.
Like a Catapult: [] []
[] []
(There would be more involved in the crafting, the above would be too easy)
When you right-click, you can load items and throw them, but only specially crafted items can be thrown effectively. (TNT would be thrown and start it's timer)
Or a Cannon:
[] [] []
[]
(Iron Blocks & Wood)
Which can be loaded with a Right-Click, and it's fuel would be Sulfur. It can only be fired when right-clicked with Flint & Steel.
I will admit some ideas in this are good for the game, but no restricted progression.
Oh no, it wouldn't be restricted progression. I'm just using the Stone/Bronze/Iron age distinctions to show that each age should be represented in-game.
I want to share advantages of wrought iron furniture...
1. Wrought iron patio furniture looks great in any setting and can be used on decks, porches,
yards, and pool sides.
2. Wrought iron patio sets give you the chance to enjoy meals outdoors with family and friends.
The weather-resistant material will look beautiful for years.
3. There's something about a wrought iron patio chair that adds a classic touch to your yard.
Wrought iron chairs have been used for centuries and still haven't lost their charm.
4. Wrought iron patio tables are guaranteed to give any patio a grand look.
Many feature umbrella holes so you're ready for some shade.
5. Outdoor iron patio furniture can last for years if well maintained.
Even better, its classic look never goes out of style.
