This is a simple suggestion but I think it would help users with mods (about 90% of us). Why not have a dialog box which alerts users to a new update and asks if you would like to install it now.
It is frustrating having mods installed only to have an update erase them all. I realize you should back up your .jar if you plan on installing mods, but this would just make the process a bit easier, especially for those who are new to modding. I also understand the irony of this is that it would have to implemented through an update but in the long run i think this would have benefits. Keep in mind this is not a drastic change it would just make Minecraft a bit more user friendly. Thoughts?
Seriously though, the new Launcher has been out for a VERY long time. if you go to Minecraft.net and redownload the exe (I'm assuming you run a Windows machine), it won't affect your files and give you the ask before update. :smile.gif:
