So right now a lot of people complain that you pretty much level out or reach a maximum efficiency in game pretty quick. Basically as soon as you get your first 3 diamonds not much can be done to improve how well you do things. Well this can help avoid the plateau.
1: Enchantite/Mythril/Whatever
In order to obtain enchantite, you must explore the nether. It is about as rare as diamonds, has a purplish color, however it is always found on the surface (walls, floors, ceiling- not just the ground). The chunk size is about the same as iron on average. Being found in the nether helps balance out the fact this can be as good as diamonds. It is also sometimes found in chests.
2: Druids
If you could just walk up to the precious stone, it would be a bit overpowered. Thus, we need to introduce some viable threats to the nether. These guys are basically skeletons in mobs that shoot some kind of magic instead of arrows, and are slightly more powerful unless you're wearing enchantite armor. They are much less common then pigmen, only appearing near the ore. Also they will never jump in lava by accident, and can avoid ghast fireballs. If one misses you and attacks pigmen, pigmen are hostile.
3: Crafting
You craft armor as normal, simply arrange it in the proper fashion. It has a Damage Threshold between iron and leather, but infinite durability.
4: Glyphs
You craft glyphs in order to enchant the armor (By right clicking while holding, the glyph enchants all current enchantite armor, using one of its four uses up for each piece of enchantite armor not currently enchanted) There are three types of glyphs:
Combat-Crafted with a 3x3 square of gunpowder with string in the center
Mining-Crafted with a 3x3 diamond square with an obsidian in the center
Survival-Crafted with a 3x3 pumpkin square with a piece of flint and steel in the center
The properties for the glyphs are just ideas, but here:
Combat:
Helmet- Arrows fly straighter
Chest- Increased explosive resistance
Legs- You do not take fall damage caused by being knocked off a ledge
Feet- Mobs have a harder time hitting you-Spiders occasionally misjump, skeletons may lag their arrows, creepers may explode too far away
Full Set- Armor resistance increases to somewhere between iron and diamond, slight damage bonus on arrows.
Mining:
Helmet- Improved visibility in dark, ore shines
Chest- Pickaxe ability improved slightly (mines faster)
Legs- Fall damage nullified (does 1/2 damage to glyph effects)
Feet- Auto-Crouch when you would normally fall in lava
Full Set- Ore has a chance to yield double the mineral (ex. Mine a block of redstone, get 4 powder, mine diamond, get 1)
Exploration:
Helmet- Rare goods such as pumpkins and chests highlighted by HUD
Chest- Increased breath duration underwater
Legs- Increased swimming speed
Feet- Increased running speed
Full Set- Gain access to a map feature, displays cartograph esque map from bird's eye view
-glyphs wear off after armor takes equivalent damage to diamond armor
-glyphs will give a warning asking whether or not to overwrite existing ones if there are any present
I'm not a game designer nor do I have the capability to balance test these, so tell me what you guys think
You kind of went too far with the whole "glyph" idea. Too OP.
But other than that, I like the idea of Mythril and Enchantite. Even the druids ( though I don't care much for them)
The armour should also decrease attack from ghast blasts.
The effects can be reduced or the ore can be rarer, but the point IS to be OP. Like it's not really rewarding to just always have to spend tens of hours harvesting resources in a video game when I could be doing something more fun or productive.

Point taken, good sir.
