le_alouette, XD I thought you had posted it. No, turns out it was Zaibach. No I never really liked the idea of the tripwire.
Whatever the reason behind it, I assume it is optimization, its really hard to do anything with. Until this is changed and Notch releases a non-optimized version and a key to translate it so it will fit with the optimized I really don't think I will be able to make anything.
Yaxlat, because it is more recognizable like that.
People were talking about making a treadmill. I like that. Maybe it could also lead to some sort of conveyor belt powered by wheels and water? I know water already works as a psuedoconveyer, but it's cumbersome to make it go the right way and can kill you. Conveyors could be hooked up to redstone and switched on/off.
Me likes! Easier string means more possible applications, and I've been waiting for the spinning wheel for a long time.
Good idea with the difference between silk and string as well, have a spider .
With regards to the redstone + string = wiring, perhaps the wiring would not replace redstone dust placed on the ground, but would be a way to wire up a vertical wall more than one block. That way, you could have a switch plate on the floor against a wall, place wiring like you place a ladder up the wall three blocks, then across the ceiling three blocks, then down the other side...
This would dramatically reduce the volume needed for complicated wiring, and would retain the basic mechanic of redstone dust as floor wiring.

Thanks for all the support, and more banners in sigs! :biggrin.gif:
I think a mod would go a long way towards getting this noticed by Notch. Does anyone have connections to modders?
Thanks for the support. If you guys could spread the word, or put the banner in your sigs :biggrin.gif:, it would help get this to Notch's attention. Ty!
Very well thought through! A few suggestions: if the wheel is circular in the inventory icon, it should appear circular when placed or crafting into something else, as well. As to your redstone suggestion, how about simply converting all placed redstone into redstone wire, as Notch was supposed to do with torches on the Halloween update.
Petermh, that was my original thought with the redstone wire, but there has actually been quite the uproar over that. So to prevent the entire thread from becoming a fight over that I changed the post a bit. Also I think having the choice to spend more resources on your circuits has merit to it.
you know what would be funny. If the player takes too sharp of a turn, the wheelbarrow should fall over and break, dropping all of the items. Either way,
inwntory is already big, don't really need a wheelbarrow, use a minecart if you want. Making cloth into string is OP btw. Redstone thing pretty much unnesasary, redstone on walls would be hard to implement.
>MFW there is a vertical redstone mod already out.

The whole idea between storage carts is it's SUPPOSED to be hard to get stuff easily out of caves. Plus a wheelbarrow would be useless inside a cave anyway, what with all the holes and walls. I support the wheel, but I can't really see a good use for it. For transferring power I'd rather see gears again, and as for transport we already have minecarts for over land, and boats for water... All we need to see now are airships (which might be OP anyway).
Only thing I can really see is using the wheel as a pulley, for cranes and such. I would definitely support pulleys.
Oh and it also wouldn't be hard to implement wire onto a wall. Wouldn't it be just like a ladder?
I don't like the idea of the wheelbarrow tipping over, also with it breaking I think it should take like five hits or more. As for bikes, I am not sure what kind of technology level Notch has for this game, with minecarts you'd think bikes would be a shoe-in, but I think that is more on the borderline.
Lilbuddha212, Yes someone has posted that idea. I thought I had appended it to OP though.. :/
danger55, I am not sure you read the post at all... :/
awopcxet, yes that was what I said.. I am not sure what you are meaning by the latter half of your post.
Jason_c_o, it is not especially easy to use minecarts over land as you have to lay down the track first. Over long distances this is ridiculous unless you have quite the supply of iron you are willing to use, but yes, wheelbarrows would be useless inside a cave. Unless you mean to take it to a minecart to get the stuff out of the cave. My intention was not for this to be a travel along companion for players everywhere they go.
ByakuyaTheTroll, yes, that has been suggested and I thought I had put that in the original post as well. :/ I am now going to have to look at the original post again because I swear I added these things in blue text.
Thanks for the support everyone, its nice to see the banner in more signatures.

For once someone thought out how their mod would change gameplay.
Pulley's and Windmills :3
Windmills/watermills could power pulley's?

Basically, it would just make the player move faster. They would be slower than minecarts, but not as restrictive.
And yes, of course it would have square wheels, and everything made to fit them, not circular wheels.
Like what you see? Give me some reputation

Make wire carry the charge for longer and have wall ceiling capabilities.
i think that this would work very well!!!
