I was basically sitting at my computer for like an hour looking at previous suggestions, specifically mob-related, and I came up with a different approach to new mobs. Instead of adding completely new mobs, why not make upgraded versions of them, or MOB LEADERS. The problem with some new suggestions for mobs are that they are too under-powered, too over-powered, or just plain pointless to have in-game. The better suggestions usually have a small back-story or cool sketch or drawing to go with it from what I've seen; I do have the back-story but I might make a sketch at some point in the future. Please keep in mind that this IS one topic. Anyway, here's my idea:
First off, zombie "leaders". They would use the same skin as a normal zombie but with subtle changes, like scars, more tattered clothing or a piece of it's head missing. They must also spawn with at least one piece of iron armor, but unlike in the earlier days of MC, it would actually affect the mobs ability to take damage. The zombie "leader" would be faster than it's minions, and would also start chasing you from farther away. The sounds it makes would be more of a vicious snarl than a dull groan, and would have a terrifying death noise; more like a long groan of pain. If it finds a passive mob, it will attack it on sight. They are very aggressive and should try to be avoided at all costs, unless, of course, you are prepared. A diamond sword will kill it with around 5 to 8 hits depending on the armor it spawned with. Iron swords will kill it in 8 to 11 hits, gold swords the same, and anything lower in material will most likely spell out death. It will take at least 12 arrows to kill it, and it cannot drown, making traps have more flaws, although the "leader" will replace a normal zombie when spawned about 2% of the time. <---THIS GOES FOR ALL LEADERS. In addition to 0-2 feathers, the zombie "leader" would also drop 2-4 iron ingots and 0-16 torches on death, because it was a person at one time, you know.
EDIT: ZOMBIES LEADERS ARE NOW SLOWED BY FIRE
Next, skeleton "leaders". They use the same skin as a normal skeleton but have a distinctive scar across their face and have a few ribs missing. It uses the bow like a normal skeleton, but will shoot 50% faster and will hurt you if you touch the mob directly, too. It can spawn with iron armor, but it does not have to. It is faster than it's minions, and will try to shoot you from any distance or from any direction. The skeleton "leader" has a neat little perk: it's arrows will break glass, so make sure you don't take cover in your glass house, or you're going to be pretty upset. It will also have the ablility to sidestep arrows (most of the time, at least). This mob is fire- and lava-proof, so using flint-and-steel and lava buckets will not work in your favor. The sounds it makes are exactly the same as a normal skeleton. Diamond swords kill it with 5-8 hits, while iron and gold takes 8-11, depending on armor; anything other than that will ensure death. Skeleton "leaders" may drop 2-8 bones and 2-8 arrows instead 0-3 for both and 2-4 gold in addition to that.
Finally, we have spider "leaders". These are the most dangerous of all. It has a brown body instead of black, higher contrast of it's fur (like the enraged wolf), green eyes, and it altogether looks aggressive. It attacks like a normal spider: lungeing and pouncing at you and having the ability to climb up walls. It has one small difference, though. It can climb up walls much faster, spin web blocks (only if that's ever implemented), and slow down your movement with about 25% of it's hits on you. It is not fire- or drowning-proof, which is it's major flaw, so the best tool for killing it is actually flint-and-steel. ACTUALLY, it's basically the ONLY tool, unless you have a diamond sword, which will kill it in 5-8 hits. Otherwise, a wood, stone, iron, and even gold sword will not hurt it; it's partially slash proof. It makes more menacing sounds than a normal spider: screeching loudly and frightening players. Skeletons are unable to spawn on top of spider "leaders". Spiders are extremely hard to kill, and their leaders are worse, so the spider "leaders" drop very nice things as a reward. They can drop 4-8 string instead of 0-2, and in addition can drop the following: 1-2 diamonds, 0-2 slimeballs, and 0-2 bones (it is a giant spider, afterall, so it eats big things 0_o). Killing this beast is a great feat.
EDIT: SPIDER LEADERS ARE NOW SLOWED DOWN BY FIRE
My fingers ache. :smile.gif:
So anyway, please give me your feedback on what should be changed or if you just like the idea.
Yeah, I thought the spider thing over and it seemed a little too over-powered, but then again, it has it's weaknesses like fire. Wait, fire can slow IT down. Yes!
Eh...when I've thought of "leader" mob types in the past, I always preferred having some new rare mob instead of just powered up versions of what we have now.
Some kind of magical or demonic mob, that in the very rare occasion it actually spawns would take control of the nearby normal mobs and send them to aggressively attack any players it locates...basically the "Blood Moon" concept but brought on by a mob rather than a phase of the moon.
The problem with mobs in Minecraft as it stands right now is that there aren't that many of them, they all spawn pretty frequently, and they aren't all that different.
What you're suggesting is simply powered up versions of the current mobs, which, in my opinion, we don't need. We need rarer mobs that offer variety.

Thanks!!!
The "Mob Leaders" sound a little... too strong and little avoidable. The spider leader can run faster than me, make me slower and RAPE ME TO DEATH.
Anyways, nice suggestion. Support.
This is my exact opinion.

Sorry, but I just don't like this. :/

i think zombie leader should be a little bigger in size.
I think that they should have more weaknesses.
Just my thoughts, cause right now only spider leader has a meh weakness.
